You will help drive our insurance business transformation as we transition from a traditional IT model to a tech organization with engineering excellence as its mission, while co-creating a culture of psychological safety and continuous improvement.Position DescriptionOur Senior Staff Engineer works with our Staff and Sr. Engineers to innovate and build new systems, improve and enhance existing systems and identify new opportunities to apply your knowledge to solve critical problems. You will lead the strategy and execution of a technical roadmap that will increase the velocity of delivering products and unlock new engineering capabilities. The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise in their domain.Position ResponsibilitiesFocus on multiple areas and provide technical and thought leadership to the enterpriseCollaborate with product managers, team members, customers, and other engineering teams to solve our toughest problemsDevelop and execute technical software development strategy for a variety of domainsAccountable for the quality, usability, and performance of the solutionsUtilize programming languages like Python, C# or other object-oriented languages, SQL, and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of Azure tools and servicesBe a role model and mentor, helping to coach and strengthen the technical expertise and know-how of our engineering and product communityInfluence and educate leadership at all levelsConsistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teamsAnalyze cost and forecast, incorporating them into business plansDetermine and support resource requirements, evaluate operational processes, measure outcomes to ensure desired results, and sponsor continuous learningQualificationsExemplary ability to design, perform experiments, and influence engineering direction and product roadmapExperience partnering with engineering teams and transferring research to productionTrack-record of publications history in credible conferences and journalsExperience with continuous delivery and infrastructure as codeIn-depth knowledge of CS data structures and algorithmsExperience solving analytical problems with quantitative approachesAbility to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environmentKnowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycleFluency and specialization with modern languages such as C# including object-oriented designExperience with micro-services oriented architecture and extensible REST APIsExperience building the architecture and design of new and current systemsFluency in DevOps Concepts, Cloud Architecture, and Azure DevOps Operational FrameworkExperience in leveraging PowerShell scriptingExperience in Azure Portal and other operational portalsExperience with application monitoring tools and performance assessmentsIn-depth knowledge of Azure platform services and security protocolsExperience in Azure Network configurationHighly proficient in architecture assessment and proposalsExperience10+ years of professional software development experience within the .NET framework (C# including object-oriented design)8+ years of experience with architecture and design6+ years of experience in open-source frameworks4+ years of experience with Azure, AWS, GCP, or other cloud servicesEducationBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experienceAnnual Salary$115,000.00 - $260,000.00The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final salary.
