We hire talented and impact-driven professionals who are passionate about driving positive change.Applications received by 10/13/2025 will be prioritized in the recruitment process.Primary RoleThe Vice President of Finance and Administration (VPFA) will be responsible for PAX’s administrative areas of responsibility. This includes Finance, People and Culture, Facilities, IT, Grants and Contracts and risk mitigation both in the US and globally. This position will lead a high-performing team in the US and globally to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. Strong organizational leadership, people management, project management, technology and accounting skills will be key in this role. The VPFA will be a valued member of the PAX sapiens leadership team and will work on initiatives with staff at all levels of the company, which requires clear, organized and focused interpersonal communication skills. The central office operates from a hybrid model, with two days in office and the option of three days working from home.Travel: Up to 15% of the time to offices as necessary.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership & Organizational PlanningServe as a strategic partner to the COO, contributing to enterprise-wide decision-making and long-term planning.Lead the development and execution of financial, operational, and administrative strategies that support PAX’s mission and evolving global footprint.Drive cross-functional collaboration to ensure financial and operational systems are scalable, efficient, and aligned with strategic priorities.Financial Strategy & StewardshipLead all aspects of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and alignment with organizational goals.Provide executive-level oversight of grant management, including compliance with donor requirements and international reporting standards.Manage relationships with external financial partners, including auditors, banks, and investment advisors.Ensure the integrity of financial systems and reporting in accordance with GAAP and other regulatory standards.Department Leadership and ManagementOversee the design and continuous improvement of administrative systems, including HR, IT, grants, contracts, and office operations, to support a high-performing, mission-driven partnership with People and Culture, lead the development and implementation of HR strategies, including talent acquisition, performance management, compensation, benefits, culture building, and engagement.Ensure IT infrastructure is secure, scalable, and aligned with organizational needs, including oversight of digital transformation initiatives.Support the operational needs of current and future satellite offices, including international expansion.Ensure understanding, compliance and equity with organizational policies.People Leadership & CultureLead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of managers and directors across Finance, HR, IT, and Grants and Contracts.Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration across departments.Champion equity, inclusion, and belonging in all aspects of organizational operations and decision-making.Serve as a thought partner and ambassador for the organization’s mission and values.Risk ManagementIdentify, assess, and mitigate financial, technological, and human resource risks to the organization.Oversee the organization’s insurance portfolio, including liability, property, cyber, and international coverage, ensuring adequate protection and alignment with enterprise risk strategy.Oversee the preparation of office-wide policies and procedures and update as appropriate.Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard the organization.Qualifications & CompetenciesBachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. Masters preferred.Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in finance and administration, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.Proven track record of strategic financial leadership, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling in complex, mission-driven organizations.Strong technical knowledge working with GAAP and IFRS.Experience leading HR, IT, Facility, and Grant/ Contract areas of responsibility.Experience managing international operations and grant compliance.Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, build consensus, and drive organizational change while upholding organizational mitment to PAX sapiens’ mission, values, and global impact.Experience in a multi-national non-profit, foundation, or NGO environment strongly preferred.Knowledge of GDPR and international privacy compliance requirements a plus.Experience with SAGE Intacct a plus.Physical Work DemandsAble to sit at a computer for extended periods of time.Able to bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis.Able to lift and move up to 25 lbs regularly.EEO and privacy notices: We celebrate diversity and are proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.
