The Medical Science Liaison is the external-facing scientific expert in Medical Affairs, communicating confidently about our products using clinical and scientific expertise. The role involves identifying and developing relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and educating healthcare providers about disease states and Ascendis Pharma’s endocrinology pipeline. The position is remote and reports to the Director, Field Medical Team.ResponsibilitiesServe as the field-based external facing medical representation of Medical AffairsCreate awareness of Ascendis Pharma in the endocrinology community and communicate the potential of TransCon technology to transform the practice of endocrinologyMaintain high level of medical expertise to support the portfolio/pipeline and relevant disease states (e.g., bone and growth)Provide medical/scientific presentations to both internal and external audiencesIdentify key opinion leaders (KOLs) and key organizations (e.g. professional associations, patient advocacy groups) for disease states within a geographyIdentify the scientific needs of healthcare providers (HCPs), researchers, and patient advocates important to patient care within a geographyDevelop and maintain a KOL engagement plan that fosters collaborative relationships within geographyCapture external insights about the disease state, Ascendis portfolio and pipeline, and competitors and communicate to internal stakeholders in a timely and effective mannerBuild strong relationships with internal colleagues (e.g., Market Access, Marketing, and Sales) by providing medical expertise and support as neededCollaborate with Medical Outcomes Scientific Liaisons (MOSLs) to support regional deliverables (e.g., scientific support, internal/external presentations)Participate with the development and implementation of the Field Medical Team strategic goals and objectivesProvide scientific support at medical congresses including participation in clinical data presentations, scientific exchange at the medical affairs booth, and internal or external meetingsProvide internal onboarding and ongoing medical training for commercial and medical colleaguesEngage with external researchers as a primary contact with interest in investigator-initiated trials (IITs)Support clinical trial operations to ensure success with planned and ongoing clinical trials, including identifying, supporting, and regularly engaging clinical trial investigators and sites; participate in patient find activities as neededDocument all relevant activities in the CRM platformEnsure understanding of and compliance with department and corporate policies and proceduresRequirementsMD/PhD/PharmD or equivalentMinimum 5+ years of pharmaceutical experience as a medical science liaison requiredPediatric endocrinology, endocrinology or rare disease experience preferredMust be outgoing and enjoy interacting with healthcare providers and researchersMust have an incredible passion for patientsStrong oral and written communication skills with the ability to understand and effectively communicate scientific and clinical information in virtual and live settingsCollaborates with a wide range of people to achieve resultsAbility to work autonomously to organize and prioritize one’s own work scheduleAbility to make decisions with significant impact on the department’s credibility, operations, and servicesAbility to create materials such as reports and presentations and to present to internal and external groupsMust live near a major airport hub within the geographyMust possess a valid driver’s license in the state of residence; satisfactory driving recordEstimated travel: 50-75%Salary and BenefitsSalary range: $175-190k/year DOE401(k) plan with company matchMedical, dental, and vision plansCompany-offered Life and AD&D insuranceCompany-provided short and long-term disability benefitsPet Insurance and Legal InsuranceEmployee Assistance ProgramEmployee DiscountsProfessional DevelopmentHealth Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending AccountsVarious incentive compensation plansMental Health resourcesPaid leave benefits for new parentsWe do not allow external search party solicitation.
