Description: JOB SUMMARY : The essential skill for this job is the ability to sew. Seamstresses/sewers must have a thorough knowledge of zippers, fabric, buttons, linings and patterns. They need manual dexterity and strong eye-hand coordination. They must be attentive to detail, demonstrate strong self-control, and be able to work well independently. You are able to learn the necessary skills through on-the-job training or by taking classes. While there may not be a full workload to support this position, this person will also be cross trained on our Heat Seal Machine. As a Heat Seal Machine Operator, you will be responsible to setup and operator radio frequency machine to seal fabrics. Essential Duties: Use written documentation and physical templates to verify correct product configurations. Sews covers according to specifications. Maintains daily logs on completed work. Maintains a weekly sewing production percentage goal of 90% or higher. Check quality of stitches and color match. Material movement within department. Suggest process method improvements. Confirm that all safety procedures and practices are followed. Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Good verbal and written communication skills, and ability to read and speak fluently in English. Ability to work independently Physical Demands: Sit at workstation for 85% of work day. Bending for 5% of the day to put finished work together. Twisting for 40% of sewing time pulling parts into work station. Pinching work with fingers during sewing. Lifting up to maximum of 10lbs occasionally. Cutting occasionally. Pressing power pedal with foot 85% of work day. Hand-Eye coordination needed.
