Siemens Mobility, Rolling Stock Division is the North American market leader in the production of passenger coaches, locomotives, and light rail vehicles. Position Overview: The primary purpose of this role is to operate power lift trucks and/or push carts to transport and position various assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, waste, and recyclables. These items may be placed on pallets, skids, or in boxes, and moved individually or collectively to designated locations within and between departments. Additional responsibilities include storing safety-related supplies, loading/unloading scrap into designated disposal containers, and supporting overall facility cleanliness and safety. What your day-to-day will look like: The following are key responsibilities, though this description does not preclude the performance of other duties. Each employee is responsible for their own work and for maintaining safety for themselves and their coworkers. Move materials between departments and external storage using various methods. Perform monthly documented inspections of emergency spill kits, ladders, and other safety-related equipment. Receive work assignments and instructions-oral and/or written-from supervision. Operate forklift trucks and/or manually push pallet jacks to transport: Recyclables, hazardous waste, universal waste, EHS supplies Safety supplies such as oil, oil dry, spill kits Trash and scrap, dumping into larger containers at designated areas Record all material movements on worksheets or other prescribed records. Operate floor cleaning equipment and vehicle sweepers to maintain facility cleanliness. Maintain work areas and equipment in a neat, safe, clean, and orderly condition. Attend annual hazardous waste and DOT training classes. Perform other related duties as assigned. Support a clean and organized facility through strong housekeeping practices To thrive in this role, you have: High school education or state recognized GED, or equivalent combination of education Prior forklift training/certification preferred Material handling experience preferred Experience with hazardous waste preferred Willingness to understand basic hazardous waste safety protocol through class training Must have basic English skills with the ability to effectively communicate with customers, vendors, contracted services and other employees within the Company Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos and technical documentation Physical Demands: Siemens Mobility prioritizes employee well-being and provides resources to support comfort and safety in all working conditions. The base salary range for this position in Lexington, NC is $17.83/hr - $20.06/hr. The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications. $17.83/hr - $20.06/hr
