Customers are provided with a variety of products that you won't find in a typical grocery store environment. Fresh, seasonal, and variety of foods are our passion!We're immediately hiring associates for our Seafood department. Seafood clerks and experienced Sashimi and Fish Cutters are needed! *This is a summary of some key duties and physical requirements and is not intended to be a complete job description.Benefits/Perks• Employee Discounts• Paid Sick Leave• May qualify for Health Insurance • Supplemental Insurance available for Life and Disability Insurance• 401 K (after one year)ESSENTIAL DUTIES in Seafood Department (Seafood Clerk) (responsibilities include, but are not limited to):• Cutting, Packing, and Cleaning Fish • Food Preparation• Ensuring seafood is handled, stocked, rotated and merchandised• Checking product temperature to ensure freshness and quality• Maintaining a knife grip in order to cut fish or other seafood to specification• Weighing, pricing, labeling, organizing and rotating perishable products per Marukai standards• Ensuring all seafood products are in its rightful place, so shoppers may find what they need quickly and easily• Preparing Sashimi platters• Cutting vegetables and preparing Poke• Cutting and labeling seafood items• Operating pallet jack, scissor lift, baler, compactor and scrub machine• Unpacking and stocking seafood items• Maintaining cleanliness of the store/ store upkeep• Cleaning and sanitizing work areas• Work Environment will be in extreme temperatureCustomer Service:• Providing premier customer service, including greeting them and responding to questions• Engaging in suggestive selling and other sales techniques• Meeting or exceeding Department's sales goals as assigned through Company policies and procedures• Maintaining cleanliness of work area, storage area, and selling floor• Ensuring a safe and clean work environment• Cross Training: • Store Support Associates exemplify teamwork and are open to and willing to be trained and step in when needed in all departments and similar skilled areas for filling and development opportunities.QUALIFICATIONS:• High School Diploma or GED equivalent• Must be 18 or older to use sharp knives, use ladders, scaffolds or their substitutes, substitutes above 6 feet in height, and to operate or assist in operating power-driven machinery or equipment.• Must be able to use job related equipment such as slicer, scale, saw, knife and wrapper• No experience required, but a minimum of 1-2 years of work experience in a similar work environment is preferred• Experience as a Seafood clerk or Fish Cutter is preferred• Possess a CA Food Handling license or the ability to acquire one• Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds without aid• Exposure to potential hazards exists with respect to equipment and work aides necessary to perform job duties.
