Hybrid schedule; team members are expected to work onsite Tuesday through Friday, with the option to work remotely on Mondays unless there is an approved workplace accommodation.ResponsibilitiesLead and inspire a team of mechanical engineers to innovate and achieve their potential in a fast-paced environment.Review and guide the design, development, and testing of mechanical products, systems, and components.Enforce engineering rigor and due diligence throughout the development lifecycle.Ensure projects meet high quality standards and are executed with precision.Shape and execute the mechanical engineering strategy that supports the company’s mission and vision.Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product management, electrical engineering, industrial design, manufacturing) to create a cohesive strategy.Build and maintain relationships with external partners and municate project progress, milestones, and challenges to senior management.Lead ideation of new product architectures for subsystem and system-level designs.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (Master’s preferred).Minimum 15+ years of product design experience in high-end consumer or professional electronic products.Minimum 6+ years of leading mechanical engineering teams.Experience hiring and developing high-performing teams.Proven track record launching high-volume electronic product concepts through production.Experience with high-volume manufacturing and assembly processes.Extensive experience collaborating with and managing overseas development and manufacturing partners.Knowledge of PDM/PLM systems; experience with change management processes.Strong DFM/DFA skills with emphasis on tolerance management for high-volume manufacturing.Experience with design of plastic injection molded parts, electro-mechanical integration, adhesive joints, metal stamped parts, die-cast parts, and machined parts.Ability to balance conflicting design constraints through analysis, testing, and creativity.Strong cross-functional collaboration and candid communication.Proven success in a fast-paced, high-technology environment with tight deadlines.Experience designing, fabricating, debugging, and testing high-fidelity prototypes.Experience performing detailed mechanical analysis (kinematics, FEA, tolerance analysis, testing, etc.).Proficient in 3D CAD modeling (CREO preferred), including surface and master modeling.BenefitsCompetitive salary and 401k with employer match.Discretionary paid time off.Paid parental leave for all.Medical, dental, and vision plans.Fitness programs and emotional & mental wellness support.Learning & development programs.Other office perks as applicable.Benefits listed may vary by employment type and location.Equal OpportunityAxon is an equal opportunity employer that promotes justice, advances equity, values diversity and fosters inclusion.
