Job Description

MUST HAVE SENSOR DATA EXPERIENCE About Us Cherish develops intelligent radar-based sensor platforms for health and safety monitoring. Our patented spatial computing technology works ambiently without changing how people live while prioritizing privacy. We detect emergencies and health risks to help people live with greater independence and peace of mind. We're an experienced team of visionaries, technologists, and health professionals driven by urgency to create solutions that change lives at scale. We operate like a high-energy startup while partnering with Fortune 30 companies and leading consumer tech and healthcare organizations. Senior Data Scientist - DC/DA Lead We seek an experienced Senior Data Scientist to serve as single-threaded owner of Data Curation and Data Analysis—the foundation powering all radar-based insights. You'll independently drive scalable frameworks for radar insights while ensuring highest data quality standards. This role requires comfort in a multi-sensor environment with hardware familiarity essential. Camera experience (Zed360) highly desirable; RF/thermal imaging experience a bonus. You'll design robust radar data pipelines for processing, cleaning, and transforming signals into meaningful information for target detection, tracking, and classification. You'll collaborate with DSP/ML engineers on production algorithm integration, emphasizing scalable workflows, diagnostics tooling, and labeling infrastructure including third-party partnerships. Your Superpowers Self-starting data detective with proven ability to independently own end-to-end DC/DA processes. Expert at finding patterns in complex multi-dimensional datasets where others see none, with unwavering focus on data integrity and quality. You thrive on being the go-to expert for data curation and analysis, taking initiative to dive deep into data quality challenges without needing direction. The Job’s Responsibilities As a collaborative individual contributor and subject-matter expert (SME) who will be the single-threaded owner of DC/DA, you will use your superpowers to collaborate with others with their superpowers (you'll work with others who excel at business strategy, product management, user experience and industrial design, electronics design and engineering, software architecture and development, supply chain and logistics management, finance and business modeling, SCRUM and program management, business development and contracting, sales, and marketing) in a supportive and safe team setting to achieve company goals. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (70-80% of role): Own and drive our weekly Data Curation / Data Analysis (DC/DA) efforts as the single-threaded leader Independently establish DC/DA frameworks and processes from first principles Develop and refine auto-labeling techniques for faster annotation Build robust visualization and root-cause analysis (RCA) tooling to help debug and improve models Perform in-depth data exploration to identify gaps, biases, and edge cases Design and implement robust data pipelines tailored to radar data, including processing, cleaning, and transforming raw radar signals Conduct exploratory data analysis to extract valuable insights specific to radar data, such as target detection, tracking, and classification Explore and visualize data to identify patterns, trends, and relationships, providing actionable insights to stakeholders Craft publication-quality data visualizations highlighting results and improvements Collect, categorize, and analyze data from various sources (e.g., spreadsheets, company databases, public websites, sensors, devices) Clean and prepare raw, unstructured datasets to ensure they are accurate and usable for analysis SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES (when bandwidth allows): Develop predictive models to support key business initiatives, integrating radar data with other data sources to provide comprehensive solutions Collaborate closely with DSP and ML engineers to ensure seamless radar data processing algorithms integration into existing systems Create, validate, test, and update algorithms and models for tasks such as classification, regression, and clustering Develop statistical models and algorithms using machine learning to forecast trends and behaviors RF/ML pipeline testing (end-to-end, and per-module) and root cause analysis (RCA) ONGOING RESPONSIBILITIES: Stay current with industry trends and best practices in radar data analysis, continuously enhancing the organization’s capabilities in this domain Clearly communicate technical concepts and progress not only within your team but also to other teams across the company Ensure that all departments understand the work that you are doing and how it aligns with and supports the broader company goals Develop and maintain documentation for design specifications, test plans, and user manuals Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in data science methodologies and technologies Use data visualization software to present findings as charts, maps, and other graphics Communicate complex data insights clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, including stakeholders and senior management Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., marketing, finance, operations, engineering) to integrate data insights into business strategies and implement recommended solutions Identify opportunities to apply data insights or models in other business areas Key Technical Requirements To hit the ground running, you are comfortable across the entire engineering life cycle, leading to a successful product launch and ongoing improvements. In particular: REQUIRED: Proven leadership experience with the ability to independently own data collection and data curation processes A track record of determining, implementing, and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) for sophisticated processing pipelines Experience being the single-threaded owner for key pipelines Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Matlab Experience with radar data processing techniques and tools Strong understanding of statistical methods and machine learning algorithms Fluency in data science tools like NumPy/Scikit-learn, and cloud services (Google Cloud Platform) Implementing automation processes for repetitive tasks and high-compute time activities Solid understanding of software development methodologies and version control systems Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on system-level performance optimization Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment Experience with debugging tools, emulators, and performance optimization techniques PREFERRED (definite plus): RF engineering principles and practices Experience with radar hardware and systems Radar data visualization techniques and tools, such as waterfall plots, range-Doppler maps, or ParaView Familiarity with radar-specific data formats and protocols Experience with radar data simulation and modeling Machine learning experience, particularly in applying ML techniques to radar signal processing tasks Experience with stereo cameras and thermal cameras considered a bonus Personal Qualities We’d love you to be self-aware, thoughtful, empathetic, diligent, hard-working, a lifelong learner, and a great team player. You’d show us that you have: Self-starting mentality with the drive to independently own and improve DC/DA processes Strong interpersonal skills and the ability, perhaps even a passion, to build camaraderie and work effectively on difficult goals with a broad range of business and technical collaborators across cultures and skills Self-awareness, to know your own superpower (nobody is great at all things), and the humility to permit others to exercise theirs on a team of accomplished specialists Respect and empathy to recognize and support the goals of the company, your team, and colleagues in ways that build trust for people to feel safe to “disagree and commit” (The Amazon Way) A work ethic that doesn’t quit, that recognizes that time-to-market is often the only thing that separates teams that win from those that don’t (“No matter how hard you work, someone else is working harder.” — Elon Musk) Tenacity and a dogged determination to never give up Innate hunger to constantly do better and evolve both your work product and yourself (You’re a lifelong learner) The courage to move fast, break things, and ship products that people use (“Real artists ship.” — Steve Jobs) Exceptional communication skills characterized by meticulous attention to detail and precision in verbal and written expression.
