Senior R&D Engineer

Overview: Seeking an R&D Engineer for a contract-to-hire opportunity supporting medical device product development from concept through commercialization. The role includes hands-on prototyping, testing, and cross-functional collaboration to bring innovative products to market. Responsibilities: Design and develop new devices and product improvements in compliance with design controls Lead or support cross-functional teams from concept to launch Build and evaluate prototypes to assess feasibility Translate user needs into validated product requirements and test methods Develop test fixtures and robust verification protocols Communicate progress and technical updates across departments Work with physicians, suppliers, and regulatory teams Author technical reports and support V&V and design transfer activities Mentor junior engineers and support continuous improvement initiatives Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent work experience (5+ years with degree or 8+ without) Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills Experience with SolidWorks, lab equipment, and statistical methods Familiarity with design controls, medical device standards, and quality systems Hands-on knowledge of materials and processes such as molding, bonding, and catheter fabrication
