Whisker is building a presence in Austin, TX. We work in person 4+ days a week. What Youll Do: The Electrical Engineer will design SOC and MCU based products that include but are not limited to: analog front-end circuitry, high-speed digital interfaces (LCD, digital Camera, etc), Bluetooth, WiFi, system level integration, analog power systems including SMPS, illumination, user interface, sensors (gyroscope, accelerometer, proximity, hall effect, magnetometer), sensors and motors. The Electrical Engineer will work with the engineering team and product managers to drive the electrical engineering projects within existing and upcoming connected pet care products. End to end ownership of electrical circuit and systems design from concept to production:IdeationSchematic Entry & LayoutPrototype Build and Bring-upTest FixturingProduction OversightConducts and participates in design reviewsDevelopment of design test and validation specificationsPerforms digital and analog hardware verification in the lab and writing test reportsCollaborates with firmware engineersResponsible for all aspects of ensuring a quality designEnsures design is optimized for performance and costPartners with the engineering team and product managers to drive the electrical engineering projects within existing and upcoming connected pet care productsWill perform additional responsibilities as requiredRequirements: What Youll Bring: BS in Electrical / Electronic / Computer Engineering and / or equivalent years of experience7+ Years of experience as an Electrical EngineerUnderstanding of Embedded Systems at a very low-levelKnowledge of digital and analog circuit design including worst case circuit analysisExperience with PCB CAD (Schematic, PCB Layout and Routing), preferably in AltiumKnowledge of communication protocols such as UART, I2C, SPI, BLE, WiFiExperience with operating Lab Equipment such as Power Supplies, DMMs, Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, Network Analyzers, etc.Experience with sensors, motors, actuators, cameras and other UI/UX componentsUnderstanding of microcontroller firmware developmentUnderstanding of EMC/EMI designExperience with soldering and basic electronic hand toolsMaintains confidentiality of proprietary informationAbility to maintain a professional atmosphere in a fast-paced environment with numerous interactions and interruptionsA high degree of initiative, self-motivation, and ability to motivate othersAbility to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with Team Members and colleaguesComfortable with office pets (cats, dogs) Not Required but Nice to Have!
