The RT performs routine manual labor which does not require a high degree of skill; may drive trucks and light tractors and related work as apparent or assigned. This position involves assisting the public with proper disposal of hard-to-recycle items (such as cardboard, cans, plastic, electronics, paints, pesticides, batteries, and other specialty waste), maintaining a clean and safe site, and ensuring excellent customer service. Support Specialist in ensuring that all materials are handled safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental regulations. Guide and assist customers through the drop-off process. Identify and recognize incoming materials by type and category. Represent the company and its recycling mission in a friendly, professional manner. Educate customers about our recycling programs and acceptable materials. Sort and organize incoming items by type (plastic, cardboard, glass, electronics, pesticides, electronics, batteries, etc.). Safely handle, store, and prepare materials for pickup or further processing. Conduct regular inspections of incoming materials for quality and contamination. Maintain the overall cleanliness, safety, and organization of the facility. Enforce all safety protocols and compliance with local and federal regulations. May drive or operate skid steer, forklift, small tractor, truck/vehicle that does not require CDL. Basic skills in the operation, maintenance and safe use of trucks and light tractors; basic knowledge of the problems involved in operating assigned equipment; Must possess a valid Driver’s License Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays to complete work within specified period of time Must be willing to adhere to dress code standards, including wearing clean and neat attire, high-visibility uniforms, and safety-approved footwear and gloves as required Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Basic understanding of environmental and hazardous material handling (training provided) Ability to lift 100 lbs. and work in a physically demanding, outdoor environment Willing to travel between sites and adaptability to different work environments Strong communication skills and a customer-first attitude Physical Requirements: See well enough to read and write. Tasks are regularly performed with exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as extreme heat or extreme cold, dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, violence, disease, or pathogenic substances.
