Assistant Chief Engineer

Overview The Assistant Chief Engineer supports the Chief Engineer in overseeing building systems and maintenance staff to ensure safe, efficient operations and preventive upkeep. This role is essential to maintaining a clean, comfortable living environment for residents by handling general repairs, emergency on-call work, preparing vacant apartments, managing snow and trash removal, overseeing cleaning and landscaping, ordering maintenance equipment and supplies, maintaining records, accepting deliveries, and moving appliances as needed. Through these efforts, the Assistant Chief Engineer helps deliver consistent resident satisfaction and operational excellence. Responsibilities Note: Responsibilities are described in the Overview above. Additional ongoing duties align with maintaining building systems, managing maintenance workflows, and supporting resident services as required. Requirements The Assistant Chief Engineer must have previous maintenance experience, preferably in the apartment or hotel industry, as well as excellent Leadership, customer service skills and general computer knowledge. Candidate should have experience with plumbing, electrical, appliances, vendors, contracting bids and apartment turns. Availability for on-call purposes, emergencies, and the flexibility and ability to work weekends when necessary is also a plus! This is a Union position, Assistant Chief Engineer.
