Role: Receiver Location: New York City (One Fifth) Reports to: Executive Chef, and Sous Chefs Position Summary The Receiver ensures all deliveries at Golden Steer NYC are handled with accuracy, care, and consistency. You’ll be responsible for checking incoming products, verifying quality and counts, organizing storage areas, and supporting the kitchen team by maintaining par levels and inventory systems. This is a hands-on role requiring reliability, attention to detail, and teamwork to uphold Golden Steer’s standards of excellence. Key Responsibilities Delivery Receiving : Check in all deliveries promptly, verifying quantities, weights, and product integrity. Quality Control : Inspect all products for freshness, temperature, and adherence to specifications. Organization and Storage : Rotate stock using FIFO, label accurately, and maintain clean and orderly storage areas. Inventory Support : Assist with weekly and monthly counts, reporting discrepancies to managers. Team Collaboration : Work closely with chefs, managers, and fellow staff to ensure smooth kitchen and storeroom operations. Food Safety Compliance : Uphold NYC DOH and HACCP guidelines for handling, storage, and sanitation. Physical Work : Load, unload, and move products between receiving and storage areas safely and efficiently. Experience and Qualifications (Must-Haves) 1+ year of experience in a receiving, stock, or kitchen support role in a restaurant or hotel. Strong attention to detail and ability to track deliveries accurately. Familiarity with food storage standards and labeling systems (FIFO). Physical stamina to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for 8+ hours. Reliable, punctual, and organized. English required; Spanish a plus. Physical and Scheduling Requirements Stand, bend, and move for extended periods (8–10 hours). Lift and move up to 50 lbs regularly. Early morning, weekend, and holiday availability required. Compensation and Benefits Hourly rate plus benefits and growth opportunities within a chef-driven, classic steakhouse culture. Final compensation commensurate with experience.
