Job Title: Construction Senior Project ManagerJob Description A leading mechanical construction firm seeks a Senior Project Manager to oversee projects in the Apex, NC area. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in mechanical construction and the ability to lead complex projects from pre-construction through closeout with minimal oversight. Responsibilities + Lead pre-construction planning, scheduling, and resource allocation. + Review and approve budgets for labor, materials, and subcontractors. + Negotiate and draft subcontractor agreements to support project goals. + Manage project financials, including profitability and cash flow. + Monitor cost-to-complete against initial bid proposals. + Resolve design conflicts across trades in collaboration with engineers and architects. + Oversee strategic planning, submittals, RFIs, and change order processes. + Implement monthly cost reports and accurate cost projections. + Recommend construction methods, timelines, and value engineering options. + Approve supplier and subcontractor invoices. + Ensure compliance with health and safety standards. + Coordinate scheduling, logistics, and procurement of materials and equipment. + Maintain and grow client relationships. + Identify and pursue future project opportunities. + Manage CAD, fabrication, and field labor resources. + Enforce site safety and cleanliness protocols. + Provide direct oversight of subcontractors and indirect coordination with field personnel and internal support teams. + Supervise Project Engineers and Assistant Managers. Essential Skills + Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. + Reliable and adaptable in a fast-paced construction environment. + Organized with strong document management capabilities. + Proficient in Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, and Office Suite. + Deep understanding of mechanical systems and project management. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with AutoBid, P6 Scheduler, and Bluebeam preferred. + Ability to train estimating staff on technical aspects of project delivery. + Familiarity with internal production capabilities and coordination with field teams. + Skilled in vendor and supplier procurement. + Ability to prepare SWOT analyses for current and future projects. + Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; or 10+ years of relevant experience. + Minimum of 5 years leading construction projects up to $15M in scope. + Life Science/Pharma Project experience required. + Preference for field experience early in career to oversee quality on projects in person. Work Environment This role involves traveling to job sites in North Carolina and working on-site out of the Apex office. The position requires hands-on supervision of project quality. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Apex, North Carolina. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $52.89 - $95.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
