Job Description

Overview The National Trust Community Investment Corporation (NTCIC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. NTCIC's mission-driven focus includes supporting the preservation-based community development programs and operations of the National Trust. Together with its wholly owned subsidiaries, NT Solar and NT Impact Capital, NTCIC makes transformational impact investments in low-income and disinvested communities. These investments help revitalize historic sites and drive renewable and sustainable energy initiatives through innovative strategies, including private credit impact funds and tax credit equity investments (Historic, New Markets, and Renewable Energy Tax Credits). NTCIC also oversees the activities of National Trust Tours (NTT) and National Trust Insurance Services (NTIS). Role and Location Position: Director of Asset Management Location: Washington, DC; Scottsdale, AZ; or Remote Salary and Status Base pay range: $170,000 - $180,000 per year Salary range: $170,000 - 180,000 annually Status: Exempt Responsibilities Lead the Asset Management team and support team members with each portfolio through the investment lifecycle from closing through construction, HTCs at placement in service, lease-up, stabilized operations, and exit. Oversee and support the collection and review of NMTC investment documentation to ensure NMTC compliance (Substantially-All tests, CDE compliance, AMIS and other CDFI reporting data, QEI and QLICI documentation). Understand NTCIC's asset management processes, investor requirements, and project-related deliverables. Serve as a liaison with investor asset management departments and as a fiduciary and manager of funds. Coordinate investor equity pay-ins and monitor annual priority returns or residual cash flow distributions with developers and investors; review investor return performance and benefit schedules to identify trends and opportunities. Collaborate with acquisitions, project management, marketing, legal, asset management, finance, and accounting to ensure efficient asset management execution; support negotiations of pay-in benchmarks and reporting requirements. Oversee organization and maintenance of electronic and physical information filing systems, including closing binders, project documentation, reports, and tickler systems. Review and update Operational Asset Management Policies & Procedures and Reporting Standards to maintain quality best practices. Support resolving investment challenges including construction and operational issues, capital stack compliance, and updated reporting, insurance, and tax information. Prepare Monthly & Quarterly Investment & Portfolio AUM Performance & Watch List Reports for investors, senior leadership, and the Board of Directors. Oversee annual investment site inspection calendar and site visits; review site inspection reports. Oversee hiring, work planning, and performance evaluation of Asset Management team members; make recommendations for bonuses, salary increases, and promotions. Qualifications Master's degree in business, finance, or real estate (or equivalent) or 10 years of progressively responsible experience in community development tax credit equity investment, including at least seven years of multi-asset class commercial real estate investment analysis and underwriting experience. Commitment to mission-driven work and advancing innovative community development initiatives. Strong interpersonal, leadership, and team management skills with experience guiding a geographically distributed team in a dynamic environment. Excellent organizational, time management, and project management skills. Analytical expertise with real estate knowledge spanning financial statement analysis, accounting, construction and rehabilitation processes, property management, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance. Deep experience with tax credit programs (NMTC, HTC, ITC) and experience with non-bank, private credit financing structures in social impact investing. Strategic thinker skilled in systems-based approaches and leveraging AI tools for data-driven decision making. Ability to translate high-level goals into actionable, measurable steps. Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills. Willingness to travel periodically.
