OverviewThe Groundman position is your first step to a rewarding career in the construction and maintenance of our nation’s Power Grid. You will assist your team in building, repairing, and maintaining overhead electrical distribution systems.ResponsibilitiesSecuring the safety of yourself and others.Assisting fellow line-workers in meeting project objectives.Readily joining storm restoration efforts in times of need.Operating vehicles and equipment in a professional manner.Continuing training to improve technical and leadership petenciesTeam-OrientedSelf-MotivatedCustomer Service FocusedEthical and HonestFollows established Safety Rules and Company PolicyPhysical AspectsThe physical demands described here are typical of those that must be met by a team-member to successfully perform the essential functions of their job in powerline construction.Talk or hear; stand; walk; use hands; reach with hands and arms.Perform rigorous physical labor; sit; climb various structures; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.Lift or move up to 50 lbs; vision requirements as listed.Work EnvironmentExpose to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.Possibility of extreme conditions at construction sites; loud noise levels.Outdoor work, subject to diverse weather conditions.Education & Basic QualificationsHigh School/GEDAdditional Qualifications/ResponsibilitiesAble to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days of employment.Able to read/write and communicate effectively.Able to travel long distances on short notice, when required.Able to work for extended periods in various locations, when required.Able to lift in excess of 50 lbs.Willing to work overtime and outside of the normal schedule, including weekends and holidays, as required.Functions in Overhead Powerline ConstructionWork safely while performing new construction, maintenance, or repair on energized and de-energized overhead spect PPE and rubber goods; use PPE properly.String overhead wire; set poles and anchors.Assist with installing transformers, arrestors, cutouts, cross-arms, insulators, switches and switchgear.Assist in replacing fuses and clearing faulted circuits.Work with energized high voltage systems with caution to protect themselves and others.Maintain vehicles, equipment, and tools; perform rigorous physical labor.Use company radio, rigging, hand lines, and lineman knots; basic tool maintenance.Identify materials used in line work; understand voltage on circuits; recognize induced voltage.Assist with installation and hookup of single-phase transformers; basic bucket rescue/escape.Understand equipment setup, grounding, and working at heights or in confined spaces.Know minimum approach distance and excavation/shoring requirements.Identify different materials used in line work; work outside in varied weather.Location & Job DetailsCity: Warner RobinsState: GeorgiaJob Code: Operations_ SpecialistAffiliate Sponsor: PIKESeniority levelEntry levelEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionManagement and Manufacturing #J-18808-Ljbffr
