OverviewLegal Consultant role at IDB Invest. The Institutional and Corporate Legal Affairs (ICL) Division of the Legal Department seeks a dynamic professional to support its functions and contribute to IDB Invest’s mission to promote economic development in Latin America and the Caribbean.What you’ll doAssist with drafting and reviewing legal documents related to institutional and corporate matters of IDB Invest and its operations, including issues related to domestic and international litigation, privileges and immunities of international organizations, regulatory matters, ESG matters, IDB Group accountability mechanisms, and compliance matters.Assist the Disputes Team with case management and documentation, prepare summaries and reports on dispute resolution activities for internal stakeholders, coordinate with relevant teams to gather information and update dispute-related records, and support the Dispute Team Attorney on processes managed by the disputes team.Assist the Compliance function with case management and documentation, prepare summaries and reports for internal stakeholders, coordinate responses related to KYC, and coordinate delivery of the Compliance training plan and related materials.Manage the databases overseen by the Legal Department, coordinating with Knowledge Management to disseminate information and encourage input from attorneys for updates.Assist with development and regular updating of model documentation and maintenance of the Legal Department and Compliance intranets.Assist with procurement of external legal services, liaise with external counsel on transactions and matters, draft retainer agreements, and track invoices and data.Support administration of projects managed by the disputes team, including execution, notarization, consularization of documents, and tracking of conditions precedent and subsequent in agreements.Coordinate filing of physical and digital versions of legal documents and records in accordance with IDB Invest’s policies.Conduct research on IDB Group policies, Legal Department opinions, transaction precedents, and international best practices for non-financial risks compliance, disputes, and related matters.Review or prepare translations of IDB Invest documents as applicable.Identify and recommend process improvements in the paralegal area to improve quality and timeliness of service delivery.Other activities as agreed with the supervisor.What you’ll needEducation: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with knowledge and substantive legal experience in Civil and Common law systems.Experience: At least 3+ years of relevant professional legal experience.Languages: Proficiency in English and one of the official Bank languages (Spanish, French or Portuguese).Outstanding writing and organizational abilities, meticulous record-keeping, and effective project management.
