Contact Information Name: Mrs. Laquata Jones Email: Website: Address: 508 East Second Street Rome, Ga. 30161 POSITION TITLE: Assistant Superintendent DEPARTMENT: District Administration WORK DAYS: 240 REPORTS TO: Superintendent PAY SCALE: Salary set annually (must be approved by board of education) SUMMARY The Assistant Superintendent is the second-in-command of the district and serves as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the Superintendent, supporting all areas of district leadership. This position is responsible for providing visionary leadership in academics, safety, operations, personnel management, and community engagement to ensure that all students have access to a high-quality education. The Assistant Superintendent will assist with the district's efforts in literacy and safety. Also, the assistant superintendent will assist with carrying out the district's four pillars: Student Achievement, Staff Development, Stakeholder Engagement, Safety and Operations. Within these four pillars, the assistant superintendent will be accountable for curriculum and instruction, school improvement, accreditation, operations, and principal supervision. QUALIFICATIONS Education Minimum: Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership or related field Preferred: Doctorate from an accredited college or university Certification/License: Georgia Leadership Certification (Tier II or equivalent) Experience: Minimum of 5 years of successful leadership experience, Preferred 3 years of experience as a principal Preferred experience in district-level leadership roles Proven record of executing initiatives, building trust, and ensuring accountability across multiple schools or departments Proven ability to lead across K-12 with district-wide impact Proven record of community engagement and service Other Requirements: Comprehensive knowledge of curriculum and instruction, literacy initiatives, leadership development, and school improvement Strong background in student services which includes graduation tracker, student code of conduct, mental health, student attendance Experience using Infinite Campus with an understanding of Student Information System, FTE, Certified Personnel Inventory (CPI) Strong understanding of CCRPI (College and Career Ready Index) Strong understanding of LKES (Leader Keys Effectiveness System) evaluation instrument Experience with school board policy with a strong understanding of process and procedures Familiarity with Cognia Accreditation and accreditation processes Strong understanding of Athletics and Fine Arts Experience in district operations, including: Budget, finance, and human resources management Student code of conduct, school safety, nutrition, technology, maintenance, and operations Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with the community and serve on local committees Must reside within Floyd County and commit to active community engagement Willingness to work evenings and weekends to attend athletic, academic, and fine arts events Commitment to continuous professional growth while serving as a strong second-in-command Engage in self-evaluation and reflective leadership practices Establish and maintain accountability systems aligned to district goals Accountability & Follow-Through, Stability & Trust, Succession-Oriented Leadership, Reflective Leadership & Transparency CORE COMPETENCIES Strategic Leadership: Ability to anticipate trends, identify priorities, and implement innovative solutions to achieve district goals.
