OverviewSenior Principal Software Engineer - Windows Driver DeveloperWe are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Windows Driver Developer to join our BIOS and Firmware Engineering team. This role is critical to advancing Dells Modern BIOS initiatives, including the development of EC (Embedded Controller) drivers and diagnostic applications for Windows platforms.You will work closely with cross-functional teams to architect, implement, and maintain Windows drivers that interface with ACPI, WMI, and BIOS-specific services. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in Windows kernel-mode development and a passion for mentoring others in driver development.Join us to do the best work of your career and make a profound social impact as a Windows Driver Developer on our Software Engineering Team in our Client Solutions Group in Austin, Texas.What Youll AchieveAs a Windows Driver Developer you will be responsible for developing sophisticated systems and software based on the customers business goals, needs and general business environment.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and debug Windows kernel-mode drivers for BIOS and EC interactionsImplement support for ACPI tables and WMI interfaces from the driver sideCollaborate with firmware, diagnostics, and platform teams to ensure seamless integrationParticipate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and driver validation effortsProvide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers on Windows driver developmentEssential Requirements12+ years proven experience in Windows Driver development (WDM, KMDF, UMDF), Bachelor's or Masters degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fieldStrong understanding of ACPI, WMI, and BIOS-level interactionsProficiency in C/C++ and Windows kernel debugging toolsFamiliarity with Windows OS internals and driver signing processes, ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environmentExperience with PC ArchitectureDesirable RequirementsExperience with UEFI, Power Transitions, TPM, or Secure Boot technologies, experience mentoring or training others in driver developmentExposure to Linux kernel development (for cross-platform awareness)CompensationDell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.
