OverviewCentral Washington University is recruiting an Associate Vice President, Finance and Auxiliary Services to join our Finance and Business Auxiliaries team in Ellensburg, Washington. This campus-based role supports the university's vision and will be a key member of the division's executive leadership team.The RoleThe Associate Vice President (AVP) of Finance and Auxiliary Services will lead the administration, development, and implementation of a fully integrated finance and business strategy for the university reflecting the university's vision of becoming a model learning community of equity and belonging. The AVP will act as a strategic partner to university leaders, provide insightful thinking and problem solving in regard to finance and business initiatives, and integrate cross-functional perspectives in decisions and organizational complexity.The AVP is responsible for establishing, leading, and executing the strategies and programs designed to continuously improve the overall financial and operational stability of the institution with an emphasis on sustainable and effective stewardship of university finances and resources. The AVP reports to the Senior Vice President (Sr. VP) of Finance and Administration and is a key member of the division's executive leadership team. In the absence of the Sr. VP, the AVP steps in and assumes responsibility for the division of Finance and Administration. All employees are expected to uphold CWU's vision, mission, and values.Minimum QualificationsEducation:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.Experience:Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in finance, auxiliary services, or related field; including senior-level (manager or higher) administrative experience.At least 3 years of experience supervising professional staff.Record of positive relationship-building within and outside the organization.Experience in conflict management and developing this competency in others.Demonstrated commitment to collaboration, respect, and institutional excellence through leadership and engagement with students and/or colleagues.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Change management knowledge and experience implementing change.Excellent interpersonal, writing, speaking, analytical, priority-setting, and leadership mitment to diversity and multicultural values; ability to work with diverse backgrounds.Ability to work under pressure and in ambiguity; manage difficult situations and deadlines.GAAP, GAAS, FASB, GASB, SOX, financial systems, ERP systems knowledge.ORApplicable combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates ability to perform essential functions.Preferred QualificationsEducation:Master's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.Certified Public Accountant.At least 5 years supervising professional staff.Experience:Finance or auxiliary services experience in a state or other governmental system.Higher education experience; unions and labor-management issues.Data-informed decision models; policy development and implementation; strategic initiatives.Coaching and developing senior staff; programs to promote student success; improving access to higher education.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Attention to detail and organizational skills; technical guidance to ensure timely project spiring leadership, collaboration and innovation; strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Effective communication and interpersonal skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.Ability to manage complexity and integrate cross-functional perspectives; strong negotiation and change implementation.Don’t meet every single requirement? Tier ranges described in the posting: Tier 1: $155,784 - $186,941; Tier 2: $186,941 - $218,098; Tier 3: $210,098 - $249,255.
