Assistant General Counsel for Research & Healthcare page is loadedAssistant General Counsel for Research & HealthcareApply locations University of Maryland College Park time type Full time posted on Posted Yesterday job requisition id JR102029Job Description SummaryThe Assistant General Counsel (“AGC”) serves as a member of the Office of General Counsel (“OGC”), the in-house office that provides legal support and guidance to the University of Maryland, College Park.The AGC advises and supports University clients, including the President’s staff, Vice Presidents, Deans, Department Chairs, faculty, and staff. The AGC handles a range of business, corporate, and transactional matters supporting both academic and operational units as assigned by the Vice President and General Counsel (“VP-GC”), Deputy General Counsel (“DGC”), and/or Research Transactions & Regulatory Law Practice Group Leader. This position teams with and supports the Associate General Counsels, DGC, and/or the VP-GC on select projects. The AGC assists clients to develop processes, documents, and forms to optimize business approaches; advises clients on strategy; drafts and negotiates agreements; and supports regulatory compliance in a variety of contexts, including research and healthcare operations. The AGC will provide other legal services to University clients as directed by the VP-GC, DGC, and/or Research Transactions & Regulatory Law Practice Group Leader.The AGC provides counsel on matters related to the University’s sponsored research and healthcare enterprises, including research contracts and grants with domestic and international government agencies, foundations, joint ventures, research centers, consortia, corporations, and academic institutions; research safety; regulatory compliance; intellectual property; procurement; public ethics; health services transactions; health law and policy; and other matter for academic and operational units. The AGC has a solid working knowledge of legal, academic, and operational issues relevant to the operations of a research-intensive public university, and must develop new subject matter expertise as client needs dictate.Physical Demands:Normal Office Environment. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
