Read further to learn how you could help make great things possible in your community and around the world.Highway & Roads Market Sector DirectorPrimary ResponsibilitiesMarket Sector Directors (MSD) are part of HDR's matrix management structure that drive our business. The HDR Highway & Roads (H&R) sector is the largest, representing nearly $1B annually globally. It includes clients owning highways, toll roads, local roads, and bridges, with services like design, traffic engineering, planning, and tolling.This role requires understanding of H&R clients, funding, revenue streams, and government structures. Responsibilities include:Market leadership and business development (~70%)Staff development (20%)Support to Operations (10%)The director sets the vision for growth and service expansion, supports strategic initiatives, and coordinates with leadership across regions and business groups to achieve goals. They manage relationships with clients and industry organizations, promote HDR services, and lead business development efforts.Additional responsibilities include overseeing staff development, managing P&L, supporting project delivery, ensuring quality, and fostering industry partnerships.QualificationsPreferred:20+ years in highway/bridge planning or engineeringProfessional engineering license or equivalentLeadership in industry associations like AASHTO, IBTTARequired:Bachelor's in Engineering or related fieldAt least 12 years of industry experience including leadership rolesStrong communication, client management, business skillsOur Values and BenefitsHDR values inclusion and offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, retirement, paid leave, and more.
