President and Chief Executive Officer of CPMG and Executive Medical DirectorPOSITION SUMMARYThe President and Chief Executive Officer of CPMG and Executive Medical Director ("EMD") is responsible for day-to-day operations of ambulatory care and implementation of care delivery standards and protocols. The EMD collaborates with the Regional President as part of the Market Leadership Team to help define the Market strategy and economic plan, in collaboration with the local PMG peer-elected Medical Group Board of Directors, KPMF Board of Directors, Market Leadership Team, and Enterprise Market Leadership Team ("EMLT"). The executive sets priorities and ensures adequate deployment of resources (capital and human) to execute the Market strategy aligned with the Enterprise and KP Medical Foundation strategic plans.The EMD provides executive leadership to support the Market/'s clinician-led, professionally-managed health care delivery system. The executive directs a high-functioning senior team, mentors the next generation of Market clinical and management leaders, and maintains close ties with Market physicians, clinicians, allied health professionals, and administrative staff. The EMD reports jointly to the KP Medical Foundation CEO and the local Market Medical Group Board of Directors (i.e., CPMG, WPMG) to drive innovation and transform care delivery while improving quality and value.Additionally, in collaboration with the KP Medical Foundation, the EMD leads a transformation of the Market/'s business, aligning Market strategy with the Enterprise strategy and coordinating with the Medical Group and opportunities such as digital health, telehealth services, and related technologies. This role demonstrates courageous leadership to fulfill the mission and improve the Market/'s financial and operational performance, leveraging the integrated system with national program stability, and improving engagement and well-being among physicians, clinicians, and professional staff. As a trusted leader, the EMD champions engagement, an elevated clinician voice, belonging, change, transparency, and accountability throughout the Enterprise and KP Medical Foundation.Note : For compensation purposes, the EMD will be treated as a “disqualified person” under IRC Section 4958 and their compensation will be approved by the KFHP Board in the same manner as other disqualified persons.PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIESCoordinates with Enterprise Market Leadership Team to inform, understand, and fulfill the Enterprise strategy.Collaborates with the Regional President as a member of the Market Leadership Team to lead the Market.Works in collaboration with and reports to the Foundation CEO and Medical Group Board of Directors.Serves as an ex officio member of the Medical Group/'s Board of Directors.Works with the Board Chair and Directors to support information needs and policy implementation. Provides data and guidance to assist the Medical Group Board, supporting a system of policies, including compensation that recognizes and honors while supporting and rewarding physician and clinician behaviors.Educates the Medical Group Board and clinicians on legal, regulatory, technological, local and regional market changes, business imperatives, and related issues.Develops a meaningful and comprehensive communication strategy for the Medical Group, complementary to / with the KP Medical Foundation.Helps define the Market strategy and economic plan with the Regional President as part of the Market Leadership Team, aligned with the Medical Group Board, the EMLT, and KFHP to meet marketplace and customer needs, finances, infrastructure capabilities, and provider engagement.Strives to meet access and patient satisfaction targets, while ensuring the Market produces superior quality measures (e.g., NCQA accreditations and HEDIS measures).Provides leadership in establishing standards of care, quality, and patient experience, in coordination with KP Medical Foundation Leadership Team.Promotes and supports best practices for operational excellence and continuous improvement across the Market, including primary and multispecialty care optimization, in coordination with KP Medical Foundation Leadership Team.Ensures adequate infrastructure (providers, staff, information systems, administrative capability, external networking) in coordination with KP Medical Foundation Leadership Team and Regional Health Plan.Oversees consolidation of services in the Market and other participating Markets to maximize value, in coordination with Medical Group Board, KP Medical Foundation Leadership Team, and Regional Health Plan.Standardizes services to provide consistency and identify best practices to improve quality and performance in the Market and other participating Markets, in coordination with KP Medical Foundation Leadership Team.Positions the Market at the forefront of innovation, pursuing telehealth, virtual care service, and other digital health terfaces with and directs, as appropriate, technology to support operations, performance improvement, and innovation.Serves as a financial steward of members and patients to ensure appropriate allocation of resources to execute organizational goals.Recruits, retains, and mentors team members to fulfill the role with inclusivity, accountability, and performance improvement opportunities for those directly reporting to the EMD and beyond.Supports retention of Medical Group clinician talent and well-being by engaging with frontline staff and improving employee engagement and retention scores for the Medical Group.Embodies and promotes culture aligned with the Enterprise mission, vision, and KP Medical Foundation.Leads by example through integrity, transparency, commitment to service, and dedication.Leads change: understands change management, exhibits agility and resilience, and fosters supportive structures for teams through transformation.Establishes strong relationships with superb listening and communication skills.Manages change to minimize friction in a rapidly changing work environment and maintains accountability for results.Translates strategy into operating plans with performance measures and is highly organized with a big-picture systems perspective.Holds self and others accountable for results and anticipates obstacles with contingency plans.Partners effectively: connects with others, builds relationships, and co-leads the Market with the Regional President; establishes partnership norms across the organization.Optimizes delivery of member care via financial arrangements and resources; collaborates on Market strategy that enhances a thriving medical system with clinician-led care delivery.Develops self: committed lifelong learner, reflective, emotionally intelligent, and open to feedback; fosters clinician voice and a speak-up culture; maintains visibility and listening presence.Drives accountability to achieve KPIs and operational goals in conjunction with Medical Group Board, Enterprise Market Leadership Team, Market Leadership Team, and KP Medical Foundation.Attends and contributes to Market-based Board meetings and KP Medical Foundation Board and Committee meetings, as appropriate.Establishes partnerships accountable for results with PMGs, Labor, Community, and all local/program functions.Fulfills the transition and build of the new KP Medical Foundation: actively participates as a Steering Committee member, Leadership Group member, oversees Workstreams, and participates in the Interim Board of Directors; provides day-to-day oversight of care delivery with care delivery teams; other activities as required.SHORT AND LONG-TERM ACCOUNTABILITIESThe EMD focuses on Market and Enterprise strategies to ensure performance aligns with program-wide measures. Completion of approved residency program.
