OverviewThe Central Texas Veterans Health Care System is on the lookout for talented Gastroenterologists to join our dedicated team and serve our nation’s heroes. This position offers an incredible opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our Veterans and includes a comprehensive benefits package that enhances your career experience.ResponsibilitiesPerform various gastrointestinal procedures in the day procedure unit and potentially other appropriate settings.Take rotational call on nights and weekends for inpatients to ensure continuous care for veterans.Participate in administrative tasks, teaching, and committee assignments as delegated by the Chief of Gastroenterology.Mentor Internal Medicine residents and Gastroenterology Fellows in outpatient and inpatient settings and provide timely, constructive feedback to support their development.LocationJoin our Belton/Temple community, a charming city located about 45 minutes north of Austin, offering a balance of small-town living and metropolitan vibrancy.Benefits / Total RewardsWork Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.Education Debt Reduction: Eligible for student loan repayment over five years, plus additional opportunities.Recruitment Incentive: Sign-on bonus petitive Salary and Bonuses: Pay range $350,000-$390,000 per year, plus annual performance bonus and regular salary increases.Generous Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of annual leave annually, including 26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, and 11 paid federal holidays.Retirement Benefits: Traditional federal pension with five years vesting and a federal 401K with contributions up to 5% from the surance Options: Comprehensive federal health, vision, dental, term life, and long-term care insurances.Licensure and CME Benefits: One full and unrestricted license from any U.S. state or territory; possible reimbursement of up to $1,000 per year for CME.Malpractice Protection: Full liability protection with tail coverage provided.QualificationsUnited States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.Education: Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an accredited institution; degree must have been obtained when accreditation was in place for the year of completion.Licensure and Registration: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.Residency Training: Completed residency training approved by the VA for core specialty training leading to eligibility for board certification. Note: VA physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status. Approved residencies include: AC...
