WE are pleased to announce that we have again earned reaccreditation from The American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC). Accredited for 80 consecutive years, Nashville General Hospital is the second-oldest accredited cancer program in Nashville.The Dr. Robert E. Hardy Cancer Centerprovides quality care for patients with cancer/hematologic disorders and sickle cell disease. In 2021, Nashville General’s Cancer Centerearned a 3-year Full Accreditation from the Commission on Cancer for its comprehensive, high-quality and multidisciplinary patient-centered care. The Cancer Center is staffed by multiple specially trained physicians who are board certified in Hematology and Oncology. Experienced nurses trained in cancer chemotherapy provide infusion and chemotherapy treatment under the supervision of an Oncology Certified Advance Practice Nurse. All patients receiving active treatment are followed closely for the duration of their therapy and after completion to gauge their response and whether they’ll require additional therapy.Clinical DutiesConduct comprehensive health assessments, including medical and psychosocial histories and physical examsDevelop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with hem/onc physiciansOrder, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and lab work related to specialty hem/onc careManage follow-up care in both inpatient and outpatient settings including infusion clinic and telehealth visits.Identify and manage cancer-related symptoms and treatment-related toxicitiesMonitor and adjust medications per established protocolsDiagnose and manage common hem/onc related conditions and complicationsSupervise and coordinate chemotherapy administration; write orders and evaluate chemotherapy protocolsProvide survivorship care and coordinate long-term follow-up and work in conjunction with care management team.Ensure seamless transitions across care settings (hospital, home, hospice, skilled nursing, rehabilitation)Patient and Family SupportDeliver education on disease processes, treatment plans, and side-effect managementOffer psychosocial support and coordinate referrals to social work and community resourcesManage inpatient and outpatient consults with supervisory physiciansEducation & Professional DevelopmentEducate staff, patients, and families on cancer care, prevention, and symptom managementParticipate in daily interdisciplinary huddles and care conferences, tumor board, cancer committee and other related committees and accreditation activities.Serve as an educational resource for nursing staff and other team membersContribute to internal training programs and multidisciplinary committeesResearch ResponsibilitiesCollaborate on clinical research initiatives with physicians and research staff and teamsSupport physicians recruiting and screening patients for eligibility in clinical trialsIntegrate new research findings into evidence-based practiceQualificationsEducationMaster’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) program.Licensure & CertificationCurrent and active state licensure as an NP or PA in Tennessee.Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (FNP), or Physician Assistant (PA-C).National certification as a Nurse Practitioner (ANCC or AANP)Prescriptive authority in TN and DEA registration (or eligible to obtain)AOCNP Oncology Nurse Practitioner Certification or a CAQ in Oncology for Physician Assistants preferredExperienceMinimum of 3 years of nursing experience in a hospital or clinic settingAt least 1–2 years in a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant role, with prior oncology experience strongly preferred as an APCStrong clinical and diagnostic skills, with a focus on oncology/hematology.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to patient-centered care.Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems. #J-18808-Ljbffr
