Seattle Orthopedic Surgery Center, a division of Proliance Surgeons, has an immediate opening for a part-time or per diem Surgical Technologist for our busy 9 surgeon, 3 operating room outpatient surgery center.We have a team approach and pride ourselves on working together to provide exceptional care to all of our patients. We are centrally located in the Wallingford neighborhood within walking distance to many restaurants and coffee shops! There are no nights, weekends or holidays. We offer competitive wages, a great benefits package including medical, dental, vision coverage and 401k retirement plans.Position SummaryThe Surgical Technologist in the ASC provides technical hands-on support to the surgeon and operating room team by handling instruments, supplies and equipment before, during and after surgery.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesWork with all members of the health care team to provide optimal care to the patient throughout their surgical experience.Maintain a friendly, positive, and caring attitude with all patients, physicians and staff.Properly handle the instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.Ability to anticipate the needs of the surgeon based on requests and patterns.Constantly monitor for maintenance of the sterile field.Assist in assuring that the proper supplies, instruments, and equipment are available for the procedure.Assist in assuring that equipment is functioning properly.Monitor use of all supplies. Assist with inventory control by proper count of supplies/time used.Continuing education to meet State requirements and keep current with health care changes.Display professionalism at work and in the community as a representative of the Center.Take an active role on committees within the department.Identify actual and potential risk to patients and others and take action to minimize or eliminate risk and maximize safety.Education/ExperienceGraduation from an accredited surgical technology programCertified Surgical Technologist preferredCurrent State licensure and CPRTwo years of direct experience is desiredKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesSkill in using a computerKnowledge of applicable specialtiesAbility to remove oneself personally from given situations, remaining objectiveAbility to exhibit cooperation, flexibility, and provide assistance when interfacing with patients, physician and staffAbility to multi-taskSkill in organizing and reporting information that is accurate and completeUnderstanding of the need for and evidence of consistent respect for confidentiality/HIPAAAbility to maintain composure in stressful situationsSkill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all staffAbility to communicate clearlyConsistency and timeliness in attendanceWork Environment/Physical DemandsThe work environment/physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a teammate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
