OHSU is a 550-bed Magnet hospital and Comprehensive Stroke Center with Level-1 Trauma designation, and the only academic hospital in Oregon. We have a busy neurosurgical service, including cutting-edge functional and epilepsy surgery, as well as a cerebrovascular and skull base program and an intraoperative MRI suite. The Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit (NSICU) is a state-of-the-art 17-bed ICU that admits all neurologically injured patients in need of critical care, including patients with ischemic or hemorrhagic strokes, status epilepticus, neuromuscular disorders, and those undergoing neurosurgical and neurointerventional procedures. This creates a practice environment with an excellent mix of surgical and non-surgical ICU patients.
