JOB SUMMARY:The Clinical Veterinarian provides veterinary support to the Division of Veterinary Resources laboratory animal programs, ensuring compliance with DVR guidelines. The primary responsibility is to provide veterinary medical and surgical care to the non-human primate (NHP) colony. The role also involves participating in the veterinary medical care program for other animal species as needed. Responsibilities include providing daily clinical care and treatment, participating in emergency call schedules, after-hours veterinary care, ICU night, weekend, and holiday coverage with other veterinarians. All services must adhere to applicable regulations.EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent required.Must hold a veterinary license in at least one state.Minimum three years of experience in clinical laboratory animal medicine, including non-human primates (NHPs).Completion of a residency in laboratory animal medicine and ACLAM certification is preferred.Experience with IACUC activities and research protocol review/approval, or as a consultant to IACUC.Knowledge of laboratory animal technician duties and training.Excellent knowledge of Federal, State, and local animal care regulations.Legal residency in the United States required.BASIC REQUIREMENTS:Experience working in an animal care facility or in laboratory animal science.Successful development, implementation, and maintenance of training programs.Ability to handle multiple tasks in an organized manner with minimal supervision.Good communication and interpersonal skills.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, etc.).RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Oversee all aspects of NHP colony health, including health surveillance.Provide diagnostic support and treatment for sick or injured animals.Assist in developing and implementing research protocols and SOPs.Provide technical oversight of NHP animal care technicians to ensure SOP training, safety, and regulatory compliance.Train animal care technicians and research staff on techniques related to NHP research use.Coordinate animal care projects, conduct project management meetings, and ensure SOP adherence and training.Assist during experiment start-up meetings to facilitate communication among contract personnel, PIs, Study Directors, and research teract effectively with PIs, Study Directors, and research teams to meet protocol requirements, develop schedules, and ensure accurate data reporting.Familiarity with active and future research protocols to support DVR and Priority One Services, Inc. #J-18808-Ljbffr
