The GMII ensures the restaurant is clean, staffed, open for business, and operates to high operational and financial standards. The GM uses broad discretion and judgement to make great leadership decisions. The GMII is responsible for the overall success of the restaurant.ResponsibilitiesOpen and close the restaurant; ensure all assistant managers and staff recognize the importance of opening/closing, and hold Shift Managers accountable for executing all closing and opening checklists/requirements.Staffing/Deployment: deploy staff and resources to maximize profitability within the restaurant and accept P&L responsibility; assign work tasks and prepare schedules to ensure shift coverage.Provide staff with consistent support, coaching and encouragement to achieve business terview job candidates and make hiring, promotion, or other status-change decisions; promote HMSHost as an employer of choice within the local community.Ensure diversity and inclusion philosophy is understood and executed within the restaurant; onboard/offboard associates with proper badging, orientation, OJT, and training processes.Read and understand financial and operational data to monitor progress toward unit goals and assign staff to meet objectives.Recognize staff contributions and support recognition initiatives; develop plans to motivate the team.Adopt and champion Employee Engagement behaviors; maintain current contact information for all associates.Product Availability/Working Equipment: manage daily orders and stock levels; oversee receiving, invoicing, and vendor communication for supply issues; maintain proficiency with management systems.Monitor and maintain restaurant equipment; schedule routine service or repairs; participate in audits; minimize waste and participate in food donation programs.Brand Knowledge/Proficiency: assess skill levels and coordinate training; stay current on brand standards, CBAs, leases, and procedures; teach staff these standards.Develop and implement strategies to increase revenue; embrace technology and help staff adopt new systems; manage day-to-day activities for defined restaurants or POS groups.Safety: maintain understanding of all sanitary, safety, and health standards and ensure compliance; train staff in wellness and COVID-19 requirements; perform health and safety activities as specified in management guidance.Reporting relationships: the GMII typically reports to the Director of Operations or area leaders; work a varied and rotating schedule including opening or closing shifts as needed.Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work EnvironmentProven experience managing the type of restaurants assigned (QSR, Casual Dine, Full Service, Union/Non-Union, etc.) with overall P&L responsibility across multiple cycles; typically 3+ years of restaurant P&L management and 5–7 years of overall restaurant experience in the relevant type.Graduation from a Food Service Management or Culinary program may substitute for part of the experience requirement.Demonstrates team management, delegation and issue resolution skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.Demonstrates knowledge of HMSHost policies, products, service standards, equipment, and operations; able to demonstrate knowledge within a reasonable time from hire/promotion.Ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, policy documents, understand menus and brand standards, and converse with staff and guests.Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE) Minority/Female/Disabled/Veteran (M/F/D/V) Drug Free Workplace (DFW)Source: HMSHost #J-18808-Ljbffr
