Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Managing Director to lead overall operations at a train manufacturing site. This role requires a strategist and leader who can steer the site toward profitability while aligning with global vision, mission, and long-term goals. The Managing Director will ensure that short-term and long-term objectives are met without diverging from strategic guidelines.Position ResponsibilitiesStrategic LeadershipSuccessfully implement company policies and develop strategic plans for the siteCreate initiatives to leverage market opportunities, mitigate risks, and strengthen core capabilitiesDefine operational goals and ensure deployment of global strategies and action plansFinancial & Business PerformanceDeliver financial results by controlling budgets, sales, orders, profits, and cash flowAct as the site’s Legal Representative, ensuring compliance in all business operationsOversee customer relations, business development, and contract execution for train deliverablesOperations & Quality ManagementManage workload in line with site/cluster strategyImplement and monitor Quality Management Systems and standard processesEnsure safety, security, and EHS compliance across all operationsEstablish and maintain crisis management systemsStakeholder & Employee RelationsRepresent the company at the local level with key stakeholdersBuild and maintain constructive social and union relations in coordination with HRProvide guidance and training opportunities for staff to strengthen site cohesionSafeguard ethics and compliance policies in all business transactionsTransformation & GrowthDrive implementation of transformation initiatives and continuous improvement programsStrengthen the company’s image and market presence through effective leadership and representationPrerequisitesBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field10–15 years of experience in the Transport, Automobile, Heavy Machinery, or Industrial Technology industriesAt least 10 years of proven experience in General Management with full P&L responsibilityStrong background in people management and building high-performing teamsCommercial acumen with ability to assess risks and opportunities for profitable decision-makingExcellent leadership, communication, and relationship management skillsInternational mindset with strong cultural awareness and language skillsCertifications (Preferred, but not Required)Executive Leadership CertificationProject Management Professional (PMP)Lean Six Sigma Black BeltWhat the Role OffersSalary range: $180,000.00 – $220,000.00High-impact leadership role with full responsibility for site performanceOpportunity to shape strategic direction and operational excellenceExposure to global business practices and international collaborationA dynamic environment for professional growth and influenceWhy New York?New York offers a strategic location with access to top talent in manufacturing and engineering.
