We employ around 4,000 people worldwide.Join our team and help to shape our future with lasting effect.RESPONSIBILITIESMember of the Management Team of the Global Procurement function and contributor to the strategic focus, targets, initiatives and projects of the global procurement network and the global material group activities.Collaborate with Senior Leaders/Management to ensure strategic Purchasing strategies, activities and operative procurement activities are best positioned to execute on business objectives and company vision.Act as a key member of the North American leadership team and play the respective role in management process across all internal functions. Collaborate with all levels of the company and ensure effective communication and partnership.Overall responsibility and management of direct, indirect material and service(s) spend.Lead the strategic procurement work for all categories locally in close alignment with the Global Leadership Team, the Global Lead Buyers and provide day-to-day leadership for the Jenoptik Optical Systems and North American Procurement Team(s).Guide, prioritize, and allocate work to facilitate continuous improvements and effectiveness within the Procurement Team.Transformation and development of the current state of primarily operative driven Procurement Team to a primarily strategic focused Procurement Team. Develop and implement long and short-term strategic sourcing plans and plans for staffing and employee personal development.Setting, meeting and exceeding ambitious goals and objectives for the team in Supplier Quality, Logistics, Technology, Costs and Sustainability (QLTCS) in close alignment with Global Procurement Function.RESPONSIBILITIES (CONTINUED)Covering, optimizing and driving the key processes plan-to-strategy, source-to-contract and purchase-to-pay in close alignment with the Global Procurement organization.Define and implement supplier cost reduction activities for defined savings targets.Implementation of cross-functional networking and lead of cross-functional material group teams especially with Engineering, Product Management, Quality and sourcing initiatives locally, implementing early involvement of Procurement into the New Product Development.Alignment with Engineering on Product and Technology Roadmap and the related requirement for the future supplier base.Define material group sourcing strategies locally, manage the supplier portfolio and leverage the potentials of the global supplier marketComprehensive supplier management differentiated for A-, B- C-supplier, driving supplier performance and conduct supplier development activitiesLeading supplier (contract) negotiations with key suppliers and responsibility for all procurement negotiation activities of the teamMember of the Management Team of the Global Procurement function and contributor to the global material group activitiesRisk Management, Compliance and sustainability ManagementCollaborate with all levels of the company and ensure effective communication and partnership.Leverage and Implementation of full SAP functionalities, working standards, approaches of increasing automation of transactional procurement activities and global digital approaches into the North American Procurement team and the regional supplier base.RESPONSIBILITIES (CONTINUED)Supplier capacity planning for direct materials in conjunction with forecast(s) and planning to ensure timely and sufficient supply of materials to support production.Foster a culture of engagement and cross-functional excitement that drives high-customer and employee satisfaction.Lead supplier quality and support the Quality Department on all issues relating to supplier product quality and ensure system is in place to charge costs back to the supplier.Continuously monitor NCR/RTV, to minimize rejected material dollars and ensure fast disposition turnaround time.Support the Accounting Department as needed in relation to procurement activities.Support Sales quoting efforts for new and existing product (RFQ’s).Support continuous working capital optimizationSECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIESPerforms all other duties as assignedREQUIREMENTSBachelor’s degree in engineering or related field. Masters preferred> 5 years purchasing leadership experience in a high technology manufacturing environmentSenior Leadership experience in global corporations and experienced in matrix organization leadership structuresOptics & precision metal engineering and procurement background is desiredExperience supporting SAP Purchasing functionsLean Manufacturing experience for supplier audits with ISM credentials preferredExcellent communications skills, both written and verbalMust possess “soft skills”: conflict resolution, personal effectiveness, creative problem solving, strategic thinking, team building, and influencing skillsAptitude for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
