OverviewThe Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek an Emergency Medicine Physician to join the Department of Emergency Medicine as open rank/track faculty or adjunct faculty. The position includes academic and clinical responsibilities and may be focused predominantly in the Advanced Urgent Care environment based on candidate experience, desire, and departmental need.Position OverviewEmergency Medicine physicians direct and provide licensed medical care in the specialty area of emergency medicine. Responsibilities include diagnosis and treatment of patients, education and collaboration with staff, medical students, residents and others, and clinical research. Physicians manage complex and unpredictable emergent situations and must be competent in technical clinical skills, cognitive and interpersonal abilities, and adherence to Medical Center policies, procedures, and protocols.Department/Division OverviewThe Department of Emergency Medicine operates across multiple locations including the University Hospital Emergency Department, East Hospital Emergency Department, and Advanced Urgent Cares, treating approximately 120,000 ED patients and 75,000 Advanced Urgent Care patients annually. The department includes an Observation Unit, HBO Unit, Oncology Care Pod, and two residency programs (EM Residency and EM/IM Combined Residency). Research is a core mission supported by federal and industry grants across clinical, basic science, and translational domains. Divisions include Ultrasound Medicine and Basic/Translational Science.Duties And ResponsibilitiesDirects and provides patient care, including teaching and supervision of medical students and residents in the Emergency Department, Advanced Urgent Cares, or other approved locations.Based on candidate experience and department need, clinical positions may be predominantly or wholly in the Advanced Urgent Care environment.Academic and educational development including teaching, research and service requirements as assigned by the Chairperson, Department of Emergency Medicine. Full-time academic tracks may include tenure track, clinical excellence, clinical educator, and clinical scholar.RequirementsCompletion of an accredited residency training program requiredCurrent license to practice medicine from the State of Ohio Medical Board requiredBoard certification or eligibility from the American Board of Emergency Medicine requiredActive certification from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) requiredHow To ApplyApplication materials must include a cover letter and Curriculum Vitae.
