OverviewAt Central Health, we provide person-centered, trauma-informed mental health care and are seeking a compassionate and skilled psychiatrist to join our new and growing department. The psychiatrist will work on a multidisciplinary team with support staff including a medical assistant, behavioral health/psychiatry nurse, clinical pharmacist, and community health worker. The role involves close collaboration with Central Health counselors to deliver optimal patient care.The psychiatrist will conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans, and manage medications for adult patients referred from medical clinics and community-based teams. The patient population is diverse, including both housed and unhoused individuals with psychiatric and co-occurring disorders such as substance abuse, medical illnesses, physical disabilities, and intellectual disabilities.Responsibilities include providing direct and appropriate mental health care in community and clinic settings via face-to-face interactions and telehealth (video visits). There is also an opportunity for clinical leadership. The psychiatrist will be supported by the Director of Behavioral Health, Associate Chief Medical Officer, and Chief Medical Officer, and will supervise advanced practice providers, residents, fellows, and medical students in accordance with Texas Medical Board regulations and Central Health policies.ResponsibilitiesEnsure optimal patient care that complies with federal, state, and local requirements.Diagnose and treat mental health disorders based on patient history and assessments, referring to specialists when necessary.Prescribe medications and therapies understanding psychopharmacology for treatment and prevention.Coordinate care with medical specialty service lines, multidisciplinary team members, and community teams to establish effective referral and consultation systems.Document patient data including mental health history, treatment plans, and assessment results in electronic medical records.Apply evidence-based best practices in mental healthcare.Provide clinical management via in-person and telehealth services.Collaborate with the care team to deliver patient-centered, trauma-informed care.Build respectful relationships with colleagues and community partners.Engage respectfully with patients and their plete mandatory training and maintain licensure and credentials.Perform other duties as assigned.QualificationsRequired: M.D. or D.O. degree with Board Certification in Psychiatry. #J-18808-Ljbffr
