This is a highly responsible and professional position serving as the Senior Physician - Psychiatrist within the Clinical Unit.ResponsibilitiesClinical Care: Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, manage medications, and develop individualized treatment plans.Forensic Duties: Prepare court-ordered reports, provide expert testimony, and collaborate with legal teams on patient competency cases.Team Leadership: Lead interdisciplinary treatment teams, mentor staff, and recommend educational needs to enhance patient care.Quality Improvement: Participate in performance initiatives, review data, and implement corrective actions to improve outcomes.Hospital Committees: Engage in key hospital functions, including MEC and Forensic Board Review meetings, and contribute to policy decisions.Additional DutiesParticipation in court testimony and hospital meetings.Adherence to state regulations, hospital policies, and ethical standards.Performs other related duties, as required.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesCertification in CPR, First Aid, MANDT, Infection Control, Customer Service, and OSHA requirements; may require intervention with combative individuals; some driving may be required.Knowledge of the principles and practices of program management and delivery of mental health services.Knowledge of mental health, psychiatric principles, practices and techniques; psychopharmacology.Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.Ability to perform complete psychiatric and mental health assessments; manage mental health disorders and care of patients.Ability to identify, evaluate, and diagnose illnesses and/or disorders; initiate diagnostic laboratory tests and evaluate results.Ability to prescribe/alter medications and work with patients with varied mental health disorders and physical problems.Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments; apply consultative problem-solving processes; communicate effectively; develop and implement program monitoring methodologies.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.Minimum QualificationsLicensure as a physician under Chapter 458, Florida Statutes, and two years of post-licensure professional medical experience; orA current public psychiatry certificate issued by the Florida Board of Medical Examiners pursuant to Section 458.3165, Florida Statutes.Board certification in a recognized medical specialty can substitute for the required experience.PreferenceExperience with forensic psychiatry is preferred.Candidate ProfileComplete the application in its entirety, including supervisor names and contact information for all periods of employment.Explain gaps in employment; ensure verifiability of experience, education, training, and abilities.Avoid responses such as "See Resume" for qualifying questions.If you experience problems applying online, contact the People First Service Center at (877) 562-7287.BenefitsState of Florida total compensation package with a comprehensive benefits program.
