OverviewJob Objective: Provides professional medical patient care by interviewing, examining, and treating clinical patients in order to meet their medical needs. Educates patients on wellness, prevention, and early detection by providing materials and resources to the patients and families.Responsibilities And Essential DutiesPrescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.Order, perform, and interpret tests and analyze records, reports, and examination information to diagnose patients/' conditions.Identify normal and abnormal findings in history, physical examination, and commonly performed laboratory studies.Prescribe medication in accordance with the West Virginia statute and professional practice guidelines.Collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical history, reports, and examination results.Monitor patients/' conditions and progress and reevaluate treatments as necessary.Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients.Advise patients concerning diet, activity, hygiene, and disease prevention.Refer patients to medical specialists or other practitioners when necessary.Coordinate work with nurses, social workers, rehabilitation therapists, pharmacists, psychologists, and other health care providers.Participate in staff outreach and off-site health care programs in the CCWV service area as assigned by the Medical Director.Participate in peer review, quality assurance, provider meetings, and other clinical meetings.Assist in updating protocols and principles of practice as requested.Adhere to the highest standards of medical practice, ethics, and professionalism at all itiate appropriate evaluation and emergency management for emergency situations, for example, cardiac arrest, respiratory distress, injuries, burns, and hemorrhages.Perform clinical procedures such as:VenipunctureElectrocardiogramCare and suturing of minor lacerationsCasting and splintingControl of external hemorrhageApplication of dressings and bandagesRemoval of superficial foreign bodiesCardiopulmonary resuscitationAudiometry screeningVisual screening; andCarry out aseptic and isolation techniquesProvide counseling and instruction regarding common patient problems, limitations, and abilities.Other duties as assigned.Additional ResponsibilitiesHe/she participates in other assigned duties as designated by the Medical Director.
