OverviewThe Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, located at Mayo Clinic Arizona, seeks a board eligible/board certified anesthesiologist who has completed an Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology fellowship to join the Cardiovascular and Thoracic Anesthesiology Division. This position includes an appointment to the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science. Current cardiac clinical practice includes coronary bypass surgery, cardiac valve surgery, aortic surgery and heart transplantation. The thoracic surgery caseload includes complex thoracic and foregut surgery, a burgeoning robotic surgery program and a newly re-established lung transplant program. The ideal candidate would have lung transplant and heart transplant experience.We provide comprehensive anesthetic care for surgical, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in many specialties but exclude Trauma, Obstetrics and Pediatrics. Pre- and post-operative care is included. The department comprises more than 50 anesthesiology consultants across three divisions: Multi-specialty, Cardiovascular and Thoracic, and Liver Transplant. We have a total of 16 residents in the program accredited for 7 residents per year.
