Whether it's out in the community addressing health disparities of underserved children or in the lab creating gene therapies or tumor vaccines to enhance survival of children with life threatening illnesses, MCW focuses on all aspects of advancing knowledge for the benefit of kids.The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as part of a multidisciplinary health care team, providing a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services for the patients of the blended services as a member of the Department of Surgery- Pediatric Congenital Heart Surgery.The APP will Evaluate patients and render care, within the scope of practice outlined by state statute, within inpatient, operating room, outpatient settings for congenital (Adult & Pediatric) cardiovascular surgical this role you will be responsible for the following:Collaborates with interdisciplinary health care teams in diagnosis and treatment of conditions requiring surgical intervention in blended environment as a member of the Pediatric Congenital Heart Surgery services.Participation in administrative or non-clinical activities (CHW, HHC, MCW) as requiredWrites accurate and timely progress notes, procedure notes, and/or admission and transfer orders.Order, perform, and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests, and appropriately communicates and documents information.Privileged to perform procedures beyond core as identified by the Pediatric Congenital Heart Surgery services.Facilitates and communicates with patient, family and staff to promote continuity of care across the continuum of care.Attend required training and meets key regulatory requirements, including those of the privileging institution, CMS, and the Join Commission.Evaluates quality outcomes for the patients receiving care of this team through participation in the development of quality indicators and outcomes dashboard.Acquires information on the most current development and trends in the Physician Assistant field and/or Nurse Practitioner field, through educational programs, in-services, professional associates, and current literature.Post-Operative Procedures include but are not limited to the following:Chest tube insertion/removal and maintenanceArterial line placement (percutaneous/cut-down)Intracardiac line removal/maintenanceRemoval temporary pacing wiresWound VAC placement/maintenancePost-op VAD careIntra-operative Procedures (based on level of experience) include , but are not limited to the following:Chest opening to pericardium (virgin/resternotomy)1st/2nd surgical assistingChest closureProvides for after hour patient care that requires on-call coverage to include patient rounds, and performing procedures when called to the hospital for emergency services. Call time will be determined by services.Will provide services at multiple hospitals based on the location of the clinical practice.Core Advanced Practice Responsibilities:Performs comprehensive histories and physical exams, identifies normal and abnormal findings, including physical, cognitive and psychosocial status.Orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests.Develops pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans.Monitors effectiveness of plan of care.Educates patients on disease and treatment plans.Performs procedures as trained and appropriately credentialed.Documents within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and completes other necessary documents.Collaborates and/or consults with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate.Educates, counsels, and assists patients and families regarding current health problems, health maintenance activities and preventive behaviors.Preferred Schedule: Full-time role with expectations for coverage during core business hours and flexibility required as necessary to accommodate business needs.
