OverviewPART TIME Anesthesia position The mission of VA Northern Indiana Health Care System (VANIHCS) - is to provide coordinated - compassionate and comprehensive quality primary care - mental health - surgical - intensive and extended care to Veterans in a timely - accessible and cost effective manner. It is a fully-integrated medical care facility with a dual campus and combined VA mission.QualificationsTo qualify for this position - you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA PolicyDegree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicineThe degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completedCurrent - full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State - Territory - or Commonwealth of the United States - or in the District of ColumbiaResidency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training - approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification(NOTE: VA physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status.) Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) - b) OR[(2) Those approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) -OR(3) Other residencies (non-US residency training programs followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United States) - which the local Medical Staff Executive Committee deems to have provided the applicant with appropriate professional training and believes has exposed the physician to an appropriate range of patient care experiencesResidents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited residency training programs and who would otherwise meet the basic requirements for appointment are eligible to be appointed as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs)PRPs must be fully licensed physicians (i.e. - not a training license) and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee-basisPRPs are not considered independent practitioners and will not be privilegedrather - they are to have a "scope of practice" that allows them to perform certain restricted duties under supervisionAdditionally - surgery residents in gap years may also be appointed as PRPsProficiency in spoken and written EnglishAdditional Requirement: Board Certified Reference: VA Regulations - specifically VA Handbook 5005 - Part II - Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification StandardThis can be found in the local Human Resources Office.DutiesThis position is located in the Surgical Care Service Line and will be located at the Fort Wayne campusQualified applicants will be referred as resumes are receivedVANIHCS offers a competitive salary - incentives and excellent federal government benefitsAs a VA physician - your opportunities are endlessWith many openings in the multiple functions of VA - you will have a wide range of opportunities at your fingertipsNot only is it the largest - most technologically advanced integrated health care system in the nation - but we also provide many other services to Veterans through the Benefits Administration and National CemeteriesResponsibilities: This position is for a board-certified anesthesiologist who is fully able to function independently in an operating room (OR) and on callThis is a traditional OR based position for an energetic and well-trained clinicianDuties of the position include - but are not limited to: Perioperative anesthetic care to patients encompassing all ASA physical statuses Preoperative assessments - including early consultations Intraoperative direct patient care PACU care and appropriate post-op ward care when needed Providing anesthetic care for general surgery - orthopedics - ophthalmology - otolaryngology - podiatry - and women's health (gynecology)Regional outpatient anesthesia skills are a requirement for this position (fellowship not required) Provide non OR anesthesia in gastroenterology (endoscopy - ERCP) - pulmonology (bronchoscopy) - cardiology (cardioversion) - and mental health (ECT) Occasional acute pain management - e.gepidural blood patches - PCA consultations (fellowship training not required) Provide expert support for OORAM (out of OR airway management) emergencies at the NIHCS Participating in ongoing improvement for program planning - objectives - policies and standards essential to delivery of quality anesthetic care as requested by the NIHCS leadershipWork Schedule: M-F 7:00am-3:30pm immediately available on siteFinancial Disclosure Report: Not required Virtual: This not a virtual positionRelocation/Recruitment Incentives: not authorized #J-18808-Ljbffr
