The VA Northern California Health Care System (NCHCS) is excited to announce an opening for a full-time, board-certified Geriatric Psychiatrist to join our dedicated and compassionate team. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of our Veterans, particularly those in the Community Living Center (CLC) and Home-Based Primary Care (HBPC) programs. The ideal candidate will be a value-driven, recovery- and diversity-oriented psychiatrist with a passion for geriatric care, energy, and a commitment to excellence in service delivery.As a consultant for the CLC and HBPC programs, the Geriatric Psychiatrist will provide both in-person and virtual care to Veterans, focusing on medically complex, homebound elderly patients. The position is divided with 30% of the time dedicated to providing psychiatric consultation in the CLC, an inpatient rehabilitation and skilled care unit, and 70% focusing on virtual care through the HBPC program. The HBPC program delivers primary and palliative care to Veterans in their homes, helping to reduce hospitalizations and institutionalizations.The VA values candidates with a collaborative approach and a strong commitment to fostering mental health support for Veterans facing conditions such as dementia with challenging behaviors, depression, anxiety, and psychosis.
