The RN provides nursing services both in person and by phone using the nursing process and leadership skills to address acute and chronic needs of Health Plan members and other patients of the Kaiser Permanente Health Care Program. He/she works under the general direction of the designated supervisor. Continued professional development: Participates in ongoing continuing education; identifies learning needs; serves as resource and role model for the health care team. Clinical nursing care: Provides evidence-based, clinically competent care, plans and evaluates care across the care continuum, uses appropriate assessment tools and guidelines, documents care, and maintains a safe environment. Communication: Applies effective oral and written communication with patients and the health care team, including negotiation and conflict management. Organizational considerations: Recognizes system impact on care delivery and coordinates care across settings, functioning within interdisciplinary teams. Advocacy: Acts as an advocate for individuals and groups with unmet health needs. Continuous improvement: Applies knowledge and tools of continuous improvement in clinical practice and care delivery. Experience Basic Qualifications: Minimum two (2) years of RN experience in acute care or ambulatory care/clinic setting within the last five (5) years. Experience: Minimum two (2) years in Critical Care within the last five (5) years. Education Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. High school diploma or GED required. License, Certification, Registration Registered Nurse License (Oregon) Advanced Cardiac Life Support required at hire Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire Basic Life Support Additional Requirements Demonstrates clinical nursing and leadership skills. Able to type 20 words per minute. Demonstrates effective interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills. Willingness to learn computerized information systems. Works well within teams and a dynamic work environment. Customer focused. Moderate Sedation Competency required within 6 months of hire. Preferred Qualifications Experience with population care/case management, triage and advice. Two to five years of critical care experience with adult patients, preferably in the PACU. Experience providing Conscious Sedation in Outpatient setting. Experience in Pain Management injection procedures. Current or future bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field.
