The Miami VA Health System is recruiting a Gastroenterologist with interests in advanced endoscopy, general gastroenterology, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) or GI motility within the Section of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.We are a Tier 1b academic VA referral center that incorporates high quality clinical work, exceptional research opportunities and teaching in a highly collegial work environment.Responsibilities:Works in out-patient clinics as assigned for treatment of gastroenterological/liver-related and other conditions.Performs History and physicals on all assigned patients.Participates in (Gastro) Clinics and/or manages independent clinic.Provides Patient and family communication and education as necessary.Participates in education of medical and (Gastro) residents and nursing staff.Responds rapidly in emergency situations and keeps medical staff informed of all changes in a patients' condition.Consistently demonstrates expertise in diagnosing and treating (Gastro) patients and performing diagnostic tests.Qualifications:United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.Education: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.License and Registration: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification (Gastroenterology).Board Certification: in GastroenterologyEnglish Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d).Benefits:Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases50-55 days of paid time off per yearTraditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VAFederal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)Free liability protection with tail coverage providedWork Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pmThe Department of Veterans Affairs is an equal opportunity employer and encourages applicants from diverse backgrounds to apply. #J-18808-Ljbffr
