Overview Job Title: Community Advancement Director Department: Office of Community Advancement Job Category: Full time FLSA Status: Exempt Salaried Professional Salary range: $85k - $92k Hours: 8am to 5pm (On-site; traditional work environment) Reports to: Chief Operating Officer (COO) - Integrator St. Philip's School and Community Center is a ministry that operates a private, non-denominational, Pre-K through eighth grade elementary school, building academic excellence, strong self-esteem and high character values. In addition, for more than 30 years, we have provided programs 12 months a year through our Community Center for children, their families and for senior citizens in South Dallas, including athletic, after-school and cultural programs, the food pantry, and a meals-on-wheels depot. General Summary As a part of the executive leadership team, the Chief Community Advancement Officer reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Community Center Services and, Community Development. Responsible for the direct supervision of a team of five and a division of approximately 10 staff. This position requires a strong people management acumen that leads, directs and enhances the potential of the team as well as the ability to cast a compelling vision for a healthy, economically vibrant & diverse community that celebrates its rich history and provides opportunities for residents of all backgrounds to live, work, play and thrive. This leader will also possess a keen sensitivity to the needs of our community and a passion for empowering individuals to advance their own lives and the lives of others. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Public Administration, Urban Development or similar degree Five years of managerial experience Proficiency with Microsoft Suite 2 years experience in a non-profit organization Required Interpersonal Skills that Align with Employee Core Values Servant-heart : Displays Christ-like character Respectful : Treats all with dignity Trustworthy : Behaves and speaks in a manner that builds trust Pursuing Excellence : Strives to be better both individually, organizationally and in the community Collaborative : Works well with others Dedicated : Passionately invests in ministry Functional Areas of Responsibility Community Center Food Security Programs Senior Services Athletic Programs Wellness Programs Community Events & Outreach Community Development Collaborative Community Planning Economic Development Quality Affordable Housing Community Wellness & Public Safety Attract resources (including pro-bono support) for Community Advancement initiatives, including business development, creation and management of rental properties, and the construction of family dwellings for sale within the St. Philip’s triangle. Duties and Responsibilities Strategic Vision Develop/refine strategic vision in consultation with department directors Leadership/Management Supervise, lead weekly team meetings Manage projects to ensure timely completion of departmental rocks/goals Gather data and report out on weekly metrics Conduct periodic staff performance evaluations Board Relations Serve as primary liaison for board committee members, providing and communicating opportunities for engagement throughout the year Attend and prepare/provide reports for monthly board meetings and Executive Committee meetings Plan and orchestrate quarterly Community Advancement Committee meetings with both board members and external community advocates External Partner/Donor/Stakeholder Cultivation Community Networking & Public Relations Establish high impact strategic collaborations – being out in the community, understanding the landscape of Community Services and Community development in South Dallas Represent St. Philip’s on multiple collaboration teams (Currently: TREC, EPA, Area Planning Committee) Participate in relevant Dallas City Council and Committee meetings Serve as primary spokesperson for St. Philip’s Community Advancement Plan and lead fundraising efforts for Community Advancement in coordination with the Philanthropy Department Attract resources (including pro-bono support) for Community Advancement initiatives. Lead business development within the St. Philip’s triangle including but limited to the creation and management of rental properties, and the construction and sale of family housing. Collaborates with the Communications Department to ensure that Community Advancement program content is reflected in organization materials (newsletters, magazines, website) Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
