OverviewAssociate Director- Medical Science Liaison- Rheumatology - (WA, OR, HI, AK, CA, NV). This role is within Lilly and involves scientific leadership in rheumatology as part of the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team.ResponsibilitiesEngage in continuous scientific and clinical knowledge development to maintain high technical expertise in the rheumatology therapeutic area.Respond to customer information requests with unbiased, accurate, up-to-date medical and scientific content; establish self as a reliable resource.Prioritize customer facing activities and deliver a positive customer experience by applying emotional intelligence, strategic thinking, and deep understanding of customers.Connect SEs/CEs with Lilly resources and internal partners; facilitate collaborative research and external opportunities.Demonstrate strategic analysis, planning, and prioritization in territory management; implement and evaluate a strategic territory plan; coordinate with other Lilly field roles.Utilize territory analytics for customer identification and routing prioritization.Synthesize and communicate actionable customer/clinical insights to internal Lilly medical and cross-functional teams; exercise good judgement and escalate issues as appropriate.Collaborate across functions and teams; embrace change and utilize innovative resources; align with Team Lilly Behaviors (Include, Innovate, Accelerate, Deliver).Operate in a compliant manner, adhering to governing requirements, procedures, and laws.Minimum RequirementsAdvanced degree in health sciences (e.g., PharmD, MD, PhD) with 2-3 years of relevant clinical or therapeutic area experience preferred.Masters or bachelor’s degree in health sciences considered if 5+ years of clinical, research, or industry experience in the relevant area is present.Field-based position with ability to travel up to 80% and work up to 4-6 weekends per year.Valid U.S. driver’s license and acceptable driving record.Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; Lilly will not provide work authorization or visa sponsorship.Other Information / Additional PreferencesRheumatology therapeutic area experience strongly preferred.Proximity to a transport hub (airport/train station).Intellectual curiosity about science/medicine; learning agility to communicate complex content clearly.Self-directed; able to manage multiple priorities in the field.Advanced presentation and computer skills with expertise in literature identification.Strong strategic and critical thinking; ability to analyze information and interpret its impact on future states.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Experience with field-based electronic or communication tools.Resilience in managing complex challenges; strong teamwork and interpersonal skills with high emotional intelligence.Experience in servicing customer needs for complex information and professional networking with mutually beneficial outcomes.Experience in a field-based working environment; familiarity with health systems, academic communities, medical research, and medical education process.#WeAreLillyLilly is an equal opportunity employer.
