Our vision is to unify our transportation services across the firm, enhancing our ability to deliver impactful transportation projects that make our communities safer and more accessible for all.We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer with 6+ years of experience in roadway and highway design, along with a strong practical background in staged construction for transportation projects. The ideal candidate will hold a Professional Engineering license and ensure that construction sequences meet safety for highway & roadway standards, maintain traffic flow, and align with client objectives.Essential Duties And AccountabilitiesOrganize project teams in designing and implementing roadway and highway projects, ensuring adherence to industry standards and client requirementsDevelop effective staged construction strategies, including temporary traffic control and traffic handling plans that prioritize safety and efficiencyCollaborate with project managers to align construction staging with overall project goals and schedulesProvide technical expertise on safety standards and Caltrans temporary traffic control guidelinesMentor and support design and project engineers in their professional development and project contributionsRequirementsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.California Professional Engineer (PE) license highly desiredMinimum of 6 years of experience in roadway and highway design, with a focus on staged construction for transportation projectsStrong understanding of temporary traffic control measures and Caltrans guidelinesExcellent communication and collaboration skillsProven ability to support complex projects and work in a teamAssist with special projects as neededTravel between BKF offices and other off-site locations may be required.Physical DemandsMust be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 20 pounds with accommodations.Work ConditionsExposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting. Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
