The Director provides leadership and vision to the Simulation Hospital. This role is responsible for leading multidisciplinary activities involving academic and student support. The Director partners with course leaders and program coordinators to develop innovative educational courses, simulation courses and simulation scenarios. The position oversees and implements human patient simulators and medical and multimedia equipment College-wide.Duties And ResponsibilitiesStrategically plans and facilitates simulation, utilization, growth and departmental effectiveness related to student growth and successProvides leadership with technology innovation and application related to human patient simulation systems, medical systems and supporting technologyDevelops and implements a multidisciplinary clinical simulation curriculum in order to meet accreditation standards for the School of Nursing and the School of Health SciencesCollaborates with faculty and staff in the development of lecture and clinical simulation immersion methods, integration of simulation resources, application of new instrumentation tools and their implementation in the Simulation hospitalLeads an interdisciplinary team of facilitators, technicians, and faculty in creating and solving complex medical scenarios involving human patient simulators, complex medical equipment and systems in support of the educational needs of studentsManages the allocated budget and supervises expenditures for equipment, supplies and materialsDevelops and implements technical training in simulation technology, medical equipment and software systems for faculty and staffDevelops, integrates and encourages College-wide cross program utilization and application of simulation technologyCreates, secures and fosters funding opportunities such as grants and community opportunitiesRepresents the College at user’s group meetings and other relevant organizational meetings at the local, state, and national levelMinimum RequirementsMaster’s degree in a health care discipline such as Nursing or related field with five (5) years of relevant experience; or Bachelor’s degree in health care discipline such as Nursing or related field and nine (9) years of relevant experienceFlorida license as a Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant or related fieldAll educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institutionKnowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies andproceduresKnowledge and experience in managing and providing expertise in the installation and supportof high-fidelity human patient simulators, medical equipment, complex medical systems, and simulation applicationsKnowledge of instructional technology, operating systems, application software, and distributed client/server administrative, academic and support personnelSkilled with technical hardware, operating systems and demonstrated ability to specify, plan, and manage application projectsKnowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, vSphre, Hyper-V, etc)Ability to communicate effectively (both verbal and writing) and efficient organizational skillsAbility to understand and clearly relate to other members of the organization technical manuals, software specification and general methods of network operations, clinical applications and support systemsAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusionsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documentsKnowledge of OSHA guidelines, Joint Commission (TJC) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staffTo learn more about this and other employment opportunities with Miami Dade College, please visit us at Miami Dade CollegeMiami Dade College is the largest, most diverse and highly regarded college in the nation.
