Join to apply for the Director Physician Relations-Med Staff role at CommonSpirit HealthWe are seeking a leader to manage Medical Staff Services (MSS), reporting to the Vice President Medical Affairs and the Chief Executive Officer. This role supports the organized medical staff model, serves as primary staff to Medical Staff leaders and the Chief of Staff, and leads projects related to quality/process improvement and compliance management involving the medical staff. Responsibilities include supervising staff, budget preparation and financial analyses, continuous quality improvement, performance and process improvement, medical staff education, and strategic planning to enhance quality and financial performance at the hospital and department levels. Responsibilities Establishes scope of service, goals and strategic plan for the Medical Staff Services department; develop and implement the strategic direction and mission of the medical staff under the direction of the Vice President Medical Affairs and the CEO. Develops methods for continuous process improvement and creates department policies and procedures. Conducts research and analysis to support concepts. Responsible for selecting, evaluating, counseling and terminating staff; oversees departmental staffing needs; fosters an environment for team growth and personal development. Accountable for the financial performance of Medical Staff Services, including budget development, implementation, review and intervention. Serves as primary staff to medical staff leaders and Chief of Staff; acts as liaison between the medical staff and Executives. Creates and executes effective communication methods with the medical staff; leads projects with health system executives, physician leadership, and service line team members to actualize strategic initiatives, including capacity management. Designs and deploys surveys to measure feedback of the medical staff; liaises with the ED unassigned patient hospitalist group; conducts performance analysis, contracting, and issue resolution; provides rapid response and follow-up on departmental issues. Ensures MSS functions within regulatory guidelines and supports development and implementation of compliance initiatives related to the medical staff. Qualifications Required Education And Experience Bachelor's Degree Six (6) years of experience in related discipline Highly Preferred Proven background in Medical Staff Services with strong regulatory experience (CMS and DNV) Experience in people leadership due to direct reports Required Certifications CPCS (within 12 months of hire) Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Training Ability to defuse high-pressure situations and clearly communicate needs to VP Medical Affairs and/or CEO to ensure timely completion of projects Strong writing skills Familiarity with health system management including operations, financial performance, quality assurance, patient care delivery systems, regulations, accreditation, and human resources Administrative, interpersonal, communication, analytical, organizational and management skills Ability to prioritize multiple issues, projects and people; proficient in analyzing business operations and implementing change Commitment to Faithful, Loving CareTM Overview Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center is a recognized leader in research and clinical excellence with a focus on cardiovascular care, neuroscience, oncology, transplantation, and more.
