OverviewLPN, Med/Surg - Ortho Urology at High Point Medical Center. Full time, Nights (7:00 pm – 7:30 am) with weekend rotation. 36 hours per week. Nights package with every third weekend requirement. Sign-on bonus: $6,000 for eligible candidates.Job SummaryUnder direct supervision of a registered nurse or physician, performs nursing services in the care and treatment of patients.Education/ExperienceGraduation from an accredited LPN training program requiredPrevious experience as an LPN in a clinical or other health care setting preferredLicensure, Certification, And/or RegistrationLicensed Practical Nurse licensure from the State of North CarolinaBasic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) requiredAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 1 year of hire for Adult Critical Care; Adult ED; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 1 year of hire for Network ED, Peds ED, PICU and NICU, and other areas per unit guidelinesEssential FunctionsProvides nursing care activities consistent with education, training, and licensure according to an established health care plan, as delegated by the registered nurse or physician.Directs or escorts patients to clinical areas, prepares patients and assists with examinations and assessments, makes observations, collects data, and reports information. Performs physical and physiologic measurements using standardized guidelines.Acts as liaison between patient and provider. Administers and documents medications ordered by the providers. Calls in medication orders to the patient's pharmacy.Assists with interpretation of patient data and recognizes relationships between data and health care status and treatment regimens.Participates in recording and reporting responsibilities. Documents findings relevant to the patient's health care status or plan of care, and documents accurately and consistently in accordance with policies/procedures.Reviews and documents all procedures, medications, supplies, or additional testing done on the patient's chart.Triage and document all incoming patient phone calls regarding medications and medical conditions; reviews with the provider when indicated for necessary care ordered.Cleans and stocks examination rooms and/or supply areas.Participates in clinical research studies by performing data collection and/or quality assurance.Participates in regular team meetings and continuous quality improvement activities.Maintains knowledge of care teams for coordination of patient care, self-management, and population management.Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.Skills/QualificationsGood interpersonal and communication skillsKnowledge of basic nursing principles and protocolsKnowledge of organizational policies, procedures, and protocolsKnowledge of common safety hazards and universal precautions to establish a safe work environmentKnowledge of computer systems and applicationsWork EnvironmentCombination of medical office and exam/procedure room settingsWell-lighted, well-ventilated, and adequate spaceFrequent exposure to diseases, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environmentOur Commitment To YouAdvocate Health offers a comprehensive suite of Total Rewards: benefits and well-being programs, competitive compensation, generous retirement offerings, programs that invest in your career development and so much more.
