OverviewThis is an opportunity to have a major impact on the delivery of pediatric care, innovation, and education at one of the nation’s leading academic medical centers. The Chief Business Officer will work collaboratively with the Chair to find creative, efficient solutions to improve patient care, support discovery science, and train the next generation of physician leaders.The Chief Business Officer will have responsibility in the following domains :Key strategic partner for the ChairServe as a key strategic partner for the Chair for major decisionsTranslate high-level strategies into actionable plansParticipate in departmental and institutional meetings and programs as a representative of the ChairEnsure institutional policies and best practices are followedFinanceDevelop and manage complex budgetsDrive financial performance including revenue cycle, personnel, supply management, and faculty compensationProduce timely and clear financial reports, analyses, and recommendations to the Chair, Departmental Leaders, and Institutional LeadersManage payroll and Workday systemsFunction as the contact point regarding departmental fiscal and administrative mattersPersonnel Management and LeadershipLead, develop, and retain a strong staffDevelop reporting structures for optimal team performanceWork effectively with key leaders to achieve institutional and departmental objectivesEnsure and support a collaborative and effective workforceResource ManagementManage office and research space assigned to the departmentRecommend distribution and allocation of departmental resourcesRepresent the department in discussions with central facility offices such as Facilities Management, Planning-Design-Construction, and Space ManagementDataManage data across the clinical, research, and educational missionsMinimum QualificationsThis position requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of seven years demonstrated strategic management experience including budgets, financial reports and the ability to navigate and interface with multiple departments in the organization and supervising direct reports.Preferred experience and skillsStrong understanding of academic healthcare systems and payor reimbursementsExcellent written and oral communication skills, with a well-developed sense of diplomacy with dynamic groups.Demonstrated administrative and financial leadershipProficiency in financial and administrative software systems.Professional work style with high level of problem-solving skillsAdvanced degree in business or health services preferredCore AccountabilitiesOrganizational Impact: Directs activities to achieve operational plans with some near term effect on results of the department / area.Problem Solving / Complexity of work: Identifies issues, gathers facts to resolve technical and operational problems.Breadth of Knowledge: Applies in-depth knowledge and skills of a professional / technical area and basic management knowledge to manage the work of the team.Team Interaction: Leads a complex department with a focus on implementation.
