OverviewGeneral Manager role at Highgate Hotels. The General Manager is responsible for continually focusing on achieving hotel profitability through revenue generation, cost control, guest satisfaction and developing employees, while maintaining the integrity of the hotel for the Select Service Division.LocationLa Quinta New Orleans Airport, 2610 Williams Blvd, Kenner, LA 70062ResponsibilitiesTour the operating departments daily, making adjustments as needed via department heads.Conduct weekly staff meetings, including weekly training sessions and review of sales and operations efforts.Meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion.Hold a monthly financial review with all department managers, M.I.D.s and available supervisors.Ensure department heads maintain budgeted productivity levels and follow Highgate hotel accounting procedures.Develop managers for future advancement through competency training and corporate-sponsored training programs.Collaborate with the Director of Sales on daily HHBR meetings to review prospecting and account activity and potential business results.Lead hotel sales efforts, including calling on top accounts, meeting clients, hosting luncheons/receptions, and engaging with on-site contacts regularly.Participate in required MOD coverage as scheduled.Monitor development of management trainees and maintain direct contact with them.Adhere to all Highgate Hotel policies and train new managers to ensure compliance.Oversee and assist in the hotel budget process as required.Ensure service standards training occurs in each department and compliance with Highgate Garden Standard of the Week.Foster a positive, team-oriented environment focused on guest spect rooms regularly (weekly minimum) with the Housekeeping Manager and Property Engineer.Ensure timely processing of invoices using the accounts payable process.Provide monthly financial information to Corporate Office in accordance with the accounting calendar.Maintain property cleanliness and maintenance through inspections and preventive programs with department managers.Ensure employees are attentive, friendly, courteous and efficient with guests and colleagues.Forecast monthly the hotel’s financial position and reforecast as needed.Prepare and conduct all management interviews and ensure hiring procedures comply with SOPs; interview final candidates for vacant management positions before offers are extended.Perform Executive Committee performance appraisals in line with SOPs and ensure compliance in performance management.Motivate, coach, counsel and discipline management personnel according to SOPs.Perform other duties as requested by the Vice President or Regional Director of Operations.Ensure fair and equitable treatment of all employees per SOPs.Meet clients on the property to assist in the sales effort and be present in public areas during peak times to assist guests.Ensure hotel safety procedures for the safe and monthly safe audits are followed and conducted.Active participation in hotel credit meetings and adherence to credit/collection plete required corporate training modules and become certified to train as required.Ensure all scheduled meetings take place on property.QualificationsAt least 6 years progressive experience in a hotel or related field; or a 4-year degree with 4–5 years of related experience; or a 2-year degree with 5–6 years of related experience.Light work - exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently.Warm, friendly demeanor and strong communication skills, both verbal and written.Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines; effectively listen to concerns of employees and guests.Participate in MOD coverage as required and maintain regular attendance.Maintain high standards of personal appearance and ply with Highgate Hotel standards and safety regulations to ensure efficient operations.Ability to handle problems proactively and confidentially, and to interpret complex information from various sources.Perform other duties as requested by management.SenioritiesSeniority level: Not applicableEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionManagement and ManufacturingIndustries: Hospitality #J-18808-Ljbffr
