About the JobThe Cultivation General Manager is responsible for the overall operational responsibility for all day-to-day cultivation and operation activities of the Buffalo cultivation facility. The General Manager will provide leadership to the cultivation crew, manage all farm operations and serve as a liaison to Senior Management and Supply Chain, keeping them abreast of operational changes and challenges. The General Manager will lead with excellence the production of FLUENT with Connected's New York premium flower offering.What You Will DoManage the cultivation team across propagation, cultivation, harvest, drying, curing and trimming to produce consistent optimized high product indoor cannabis productionMaintain product quality through post-harvest SOPs, including environmental and moisture monitoringOrganize workflow and manage cultivation team’s daily tasks ensuring work qualityManage execution of all planting schedules, plant maintenance, fertigation and IPM tasksManage all post-harvest activities including dry, cure, bucking, hand and machine trimMaintain trim team to high productivity with sufficient and efficient staff headcount based on production throughputOversee QC inspection process to ensure all products meet brand standardsCommunicate effectively with cultivation leadership to ensure issues and protocol shifts have proper alignmentProvide direction on protocols, corrective actions and performance management for cultivation and trim teamsHire to ensure strong team dynamics and adequate staff to maintain production throughputsForecast production, transfers, compliance testing and inventory with supply chain and distributionEnsure equipment is functioning and maintenance is up to date; facilitate repairs, upgrades and maintenance as neededRespond to issues from environment alarms and security after hours; indoor farms are 24/7Maintain security protocols as neededMaintain a clean, pest- and disease-free environmentEnsure all practices are compliant for cannabis activitiesProvide site leadership and team scheduling during inclement weather; manage snow removal and facility access in winterIdentify opportunities for improved efficiencies and cost savingsVisit other cultivation sites to assess facility, plant and team opportunities in collaboration with leadershipDrive initiatives, knowledge sharing and standardization through cross-functional collaborationReport back to leadership on site visits and recommendations, with follow-up with cultivation teamsOther duties as assignedWhat We Are Looking ForMinimum age of 21 years or olderHigh school or equivalent; degree in horticulture preferred8+ years of experience in cultivation or production managementExpertise in indoor cultivation and automated climate control indoor systemsStrong knowledge of internal current protocolsStrong management and people skills to drive a positive productive team cultureMay require rotating shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays, and eventsProven project management skills and experience managing complex deadlinesDegree in Business Management, Horticulture Agriculture or related field a plusAbility to operate within a tightly controlled track-and-trace environmentExpert knowledge of growing mediums, nutrient regimens, cultivation methodologies, environmental requirements and techniquesProficient understanding of cannabis laws and regulationsFundamental knowledge and ability to be taught in cultivation areasUnderstand and implement company and cultivation department rules, regulations, policies, and proceduresAdhere to the company mission and maintain high ethical standardsWork well with others and adapt quickly to policy changesUse independent judgment regarding product processing, quality, projections and goalsCreate a proactive, positive environment and drive high-quality productionMotivate and guide team members to form a cohesive unitIdentify quality issues and raise them proactivelyFollow instructions and accept constructive criticism to maintain quality and goalsAnalyze potential problems with a plant or productDemonstrate self-motivation and the ability to work with all staff and supervisorsListen well and communicate effectively with various audiencesStrong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially ExcelOther duties as assignedCompensation Description (annually)The salary range for this position in the selected city is $120,000.00 - $150,000.00 annually. Compensation may vary outside this range depending on qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location.Physical Requirements/Workplace EnvironmentMust be able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally without assistance or 100 lbs. with assistance. Regularly required to carry, grasp, lift, walk, stand, bend/crouch, stoop, stretch, talk, hear, see and perform repetitive motions. Must be able to stand for extended periods and work in varying temperature and humidity conditions. Work is performed in a fast-paced cannabis grow location.
